Rhode Island US Elections 2024: Kamala Harris has won the Rhode Island contest and secured the state’s four Electoral College votes. She won by 55.7 per cent votes from the state.
A New England state, Rhode Island has not voted for a Republican candidate since 1984, when Ronald Reagan won in a 49-state landslide. It is a deeply blue state, being one of three states (along with Hawaii and Massachusetts) in 2020 to have every county vote for Democrat Joe Biden.
According to the latest data published by Rhode Island’s Secretary of State Gregg Amore, as of July 2026, there are 779,607 total registered voters in the state. However, not everyone is an active voter. Of 723,135 total active voters, 51,686 have inactive voter registrations.

Considered a reliably blue state, Rhode Island has only voted for the Republican presidential candidate a handful of times in the last 100 years, most recently in 1984.

2008: Barack Obama won with a large margin, receiving 63.1 per cent of the vote against John McCain (Republican), who took 35.1 per cent.
2012: Barack Obama (Democrat) carried Rhode Island with 62.7 per cent, defeating Mitt Romney (Republican), who garnered 35.2 per cent of the vote.

2016: Hillary Clinton (Democrat) won Rhode Island with 54.4 per cent, while Donald Trump received 38.9 per cent. Third-party candidates, including Jill Stein (Green Party) and Gary Johnson (Libertarian Party), received a small percentage of the vote.
2020: Joe Biden (Democrat) won Rhode Island with 59.4 per cent of the vote, defeating Donald Trump (Republican), who received 38.6 per cent.
