Morning brief: Several killed in Kerala landslides; protests in Venezuela following election results, and more

Several people have been killed and hundreds of others are reported to be missing as massive landslides hit Wayanad in the Indian state of Kerala.The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) said that rescue teams along with NDRF teams have been deployed to the affected region.

Anti-government protests have broken out in Venezuelaagainst the election results that declared President Nicolas Maduro the winner. On Monday evening,thousands of protesters gathered in central Caracas.

In other news from around the world,Haiti's Prime Minister Garry Conille narrowly escaped a gang attack near a hospital in Port-au-Prince he was visiting.

The attack took place near a hospital in Port-au-Prince the minister was visiting.A government source told AFP that Conille, escorted by Haitian police and members of a UN-backed Kenyan security force, escaped the attack unscathed.
