The US-Israel war on Iran has entered its ninth day after joint strikes killed Iran’s Supreme Leader. Tehran has retaliated across the region while Israel expands attacks on Hezbollah. With bombings continuing and diplomacy stalled, global leaders are urging dialogue

US-Iran-Israel war LIVE | The war in West Asia has entered ninth day and situation is far from getting normal. On Feb 28, the United States and Israel bombed Iran in what it described as “preemptive strike.” The operation was dubbed as Operation Lion's Roar by Israel and Operation Epic Fury by the US. In the strikes that followed, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed, prompting Tehran to retaliate not only at Israel and the US but also at the friendly Gulf nations in its neighbourhood.

Iran justified those attacks as attack on "American territory" as these Gulf nations hosts US bases. The Trump administration has been rather confused about the objective of the war and the situation under which it decided to attack amid Tehran's claims that the US is fighting on Israel's insistence. US President Donald Trump said that “heavy and pinpoint bombing will continue uninterrupted throughout the week or, as long as necessary” to ensure peace in the region. The attack came in midst of nuclear talks between Iran and the US. The attack also came eight months after Israel launched a 12-day war against Iran.

The bombings are still continuing, with Israel now attacking Hezbollah in Lebanon after the group vowed to avenge Khamenei's death. Iran's top leadership has ruled out any possibility of talks with the Americans and is deciding on the name of the next Supreme Leader.

How long will the war continue and will it actually bring peace in the West Asian region? As major question hovers, international community, including India has batted for dialogue with Indian PM Narendra Modi saying that military conflicts cannot restore peace and solve problems. All updates and analysis on the ongoing situation as Israel-US war on Iran continues:

US Israel Iran war LIVE: China warns against regime change

US-Iran-Israel war LIVE: China warns against regime change. Chinese FM also said West Asia war 'should never have happened'
