The EU's chief diplomat Josep Borrell and European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen are scheduled to visit West Asia in a bid to protect civilians in Gaza and opening of fresh humanitarian corridors.
Borrell will arrive on Nov 16 and will start with a visit to an Israeli kibbutz attacked on 7 October followed by high level meetings with Israel’s foreign minister, the UN special coordinator and representatives of hostage families.
He is then scheduled to fly to Ramallah for a meeting with de-facto Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas followed by meetings in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Jordan. Borrell will also meet representatives of Iraq and Kuwait in Bahrain separately.
