How Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi created history by planting a sapling at Rajghat

The Abu Dhahi Crown Prince planted an Amaltas (Cassia Fistula) sapling

In a powerful symbol of the deepening relationship between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan planted a sapling at Rajghat, the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi, on Monday. This is seen as a historic occasion,as the three generations of UAE leaders have now planted trees at the site in Delhi.

The Abu Dhahi Crown Prince planted an Amaltas (Cassia fistula) sapling, which is the state tree of Delhi. Its vibrant yellow flowers are well known for their beauty. The Crown Prince follows the footsteps of current UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who planted a Molshri (Mimusops elengi) sapling in 2016. Before him, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE, planted an Amaltas sapling in 1992.

This event is the first in the history of Rajghat where three generations of leaders from one country have planted trees. The planting ceremony is a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi's ideals of peace, unity, and sustainable development, values shared by both India and UAE.
