Five people were left dead and one missing insouthern China after typhoon Ewiniar lashed Guangdong province on Friday (June 8).
Rescue workers were deployed to towns across the province after drainage systems were overwhelmed, leaving some places as much as two meters underwater, state broadcaster CCTV reported.
The five deaths were caused by a house collapsed following a landslide brought on by rain in Yunfu city, CCTV added.
Ewiniar is expected to continue battering thesouthern Chinese provinces of Guangdong, Jiangxi and Fujian into the weekend.
