Elon Musk's SpaceX sued for $15 million by Cards Against Humanity over alleged trespassing on Texas land

Chicago-based game company, Cards Against Humanity, has filed a lawsuit against Elon Musk's SpaceX, accusing the latter of trespassing on its land in Texas. The land was bought by the game company in 2017 as part of a protest against Donald Trump’s plan to build a border wall.

SpaceX accused of trespassing and damaging land

Cards Against Humanity mentioned on a dedicated website about the lawsuit, "Elon Musk’s SpaceX was building some space thing nearby, and he figured he could just dump his shit all over our gorgeous plot of land without asking. After we caught him, SpaceX gave us a 12-hour ultimatum to accept a lowball offer for less than half our land’s value." The company also stated that it rejected the offer and initiated legal proceedings.

In its lawsuit, filed in a Texas court, Cards Against Humanity claims that SpaceX has used its property in Cameron County without permission for the past six months.

According to the company, SpaceX has placed construction materials, including gravel and debris, on the land, leading to damage, including loss of vegetation. Despite a "no trespassing" sign placed on the property, the company alleges that SpaceX ignored it.

Historical context of the purchase

The lawsuit says the company has kept the land in its natural state ever since it was purchased with help from 150,000 supporters who each contributed $15.

Seeking compensation

Seeking $15 million in damages, Cards Against Humanity asserts that the alleged trespassing has resulted in significant harm to the land. As of now, SpaceX has not responded to the allegations.
