Bolivian cable car named world's longest by Guinness records

Guinness records have announced Bolivia's cable car system to be included in its 2018 list as the largest car system in the world.

Bolivia's cable car system connects La Paz area to El Alto metropolitan area of Bolivia and is operated by state-run company name Mi Teleferico.

30 km long cable car system consists of 17 stations along with five lines, Red Yellow, Green, Blue and Orange.

It is at height of 3,600 (11,811 feet) to 4,000 kms (13,123 feet).

The system was planned in order to address a number of problems, including a precarious public transit system that could not cope with growing user demands, the high cost in time and money of traveling between La Paz and El Alto, chaotic traffic with its subsequent environmental and noise pollution, and a growing demand for gasoline and diesel fuel, which are subsidized by the state.

The electrically powered silent cable cars have built-in wifi and panoramic views of the Andes. The company Mi Teleferico has also released a mobile application for Android and Apple with information about existing and future lines.

Currently, about 159,000 passengers commutethrough the system in a day, and it aiming to achievethe goal of 300,000 when all the stations are fully built.
