The Indian Railways has suspended four officials responsible for the maintenance of the track after 14 coaches of the Utkal Express derailed on Saturday.

Member (Engineering), Railway Board, Northern Railway general manager, and divisional railway manager of Delhi have been sent on leave.

The death toll has reached 22. A probe led by Commissioner, Railway Safety, Northern Circle has been ordered. The probe will beginfrom tomorrow.

Earlier, a senior railway official had indicated that the derailment could have occurred because of the maintenance work on the track.

Railway minister Suresh Prabhu had asked to fix responsibility on prima facie evidence by the end of the day.
