An Ethiopian woman has claimed she has not drunk or eaten anything for the last 16 years and abandoned consuming food when she was 10. She also clearly remembers her last meal — a red lentil stew.
The curious case of 26-year-old Muluwork Ambaw prompted adventurer Drew Binsky to travel to Ethiopia and askher a straightforward question:“Is it true?”
“Stepping intoMuluwork'sliving room is like entering another world,”Drewwas quotedas sayingby UK news outlet Daily Star.“There are posters on the walls and a variety of antiques that make it feel likewe'restuck in a time capsule of her childhood,”he adds.
Ironically, Ambaw loves cookingbutshe never feels like to eat. She told Drew that her 16-year fast began suddenly.
“Iused to live with my family, and they asked me to eat breakfast and go to school. I said I had eaten but I was pretending. I had lost my appetite for water or for any food,”she said.
Doctors also tested her. After years of inspection, they concluded that she was in perfect healthandher digestive tract showed no signs of food, water or waste products. Due to her strange fast, she alsodidn'tneed to urinate or defecate.
Doctors from Dubai and Qatar also tested her but found no problem with her system.
Ambaw says her unusual condition is"the work of god."
She also showed confidence that she will never eat again. She also challenged those who raised doubt over her condition to come and stay with her.
