Colorado Springs, Colorado
A dog in the US state of Colorado started a house fire after it accidentally turned on the stove in the middle of the night, American media reported on Thursday (Jul 4) citing authorities. The incident occurred last month (June 26) at a house in Colorado Springs.
A report by ABC News on Thursday said that the Colorado Springs Fire Department was dispatched to the house at around 4.43 am local time after receiving a call from the family that they experienced a fire on the stove which was extinguished relatively quickly.
The family members were alerted of the fire by their Apple HomePod which sent them a "high heat" notification.
The video
The clip, which has gone viral on social media, showed the dog jumping up and placing its paws on the stove to take a look at the boxes placed on top. Authorities believe that when the dog jumped down, it accidentally turned the stove on which ignited the boxes and started the fire.

Homeowner hospitalised
The ABC News report said that the homeowner was able to extinguish the fire before the fire department arrived. He was later hospitalised and treated for smoke inhalation. There were no injuries reported in the house, either to people or their pets, the report added.
In a statement posted on social media, the fire department said that it did not find any active fire (at the house) but did find evidence of a fire.
“After talking to the homeowners and looking through their home security footage, we determined their pup got a bit curious and accidentally switched on the oven which had some boxes on top of it,” the department added.
