This British man is on the verge of becoming the first to run entire length of Africa

Ultramarathoner Russ Cook, known as "Hardest Geezer," is on the brink of an extraordinary accomplishment: completing a run spanning the whole of Africa. This task, named Project Africa, will mark him as the first individual to achieve such a feat.Starting his journeyon April 22, 2023, from the southern tip of South Africa, Cook wishesto cross the finish line in Bizerte, Tunisia, by April 7. Project Africa stands as a monumental venture, covering almost 9,000 miles (15,000 km) and 16 African nations.

In a recent tweet, Cook expressed his anticipation of wrapping up his continent-spanning marathon in approximately five days.

Initially planning to complete 360 marathons in 240 days, Cook faced setbacks including visa issues, health scares, geopolitical hurdles, and even an armed robbery.

Cook's passion for extreme running was ignited by a friend, leading him to undertake various such challenges like exploringAsia and participating in a beer-fuelled marathon. Project Africa transcends mere distance; Cook is leveraging the journey to raise funds for charitable causes, particularly The Running Charity, amassing £427,000 ($536,916) thus far.

Despite encountering visa complications, health setbacks, and the ordeal of robbery, Cook remains steadyin his determination.
