Meet Albie: The unbelievable rottweiler-dachshund mix taking over social media

Albie

One crossbreed is making waves on social media, with people unable to believe what they are seeing: a rottweiler bred with a dachshund.

Albie, age two, was born into an "accidental litter," meaning he had a rottweiler mother and a dachshund father. He acquired the female's big rottie face and the male's sausage dog silhouette.

When Albie goes out, people turn their heads and ask a lot of questions because of his uncommon appearance. Kylie Theaker's TikTok video of him received almost 3 million views and over 3,500 comments as fans asked questions about the puppy.

In the video, Theaker sings: "What do you get when you mix a rottweiler with a little sausage dog?" As the camera focuses on the little puppy with a rottie face, she says, "This is what you get."

"I really enjoy when I come across an unusual dog, and I've ever met one quite like Albie," Theaker says in a voiceover as she watches Albie play with a puppy that is even smaller than him. "I really enjoy when I come across an unusual dog, and I've ever met one quite like Albie. He thinks he's one of the big dogs, but he also thinks that he can prance about and play flight with tiny ones like this," Theaker added.

The website Wag! refers to the unusual mix as a dachsweiler and describes the breed as a "rare hybrid dog." "They are intelligent dogs, even-tempered with a touch of playfulness, and yet loyal and protective towards their family," according to the website. "Affectionate, reliable, and full of energy, they make a good family pet if socialized early in life."

Thousands of TikTok viewers flocked to Albie's video's comments section, with one user asking: "The sausage dog was the father? How'd the little champion manage that?"

While some TikTok users couldn't believe a [dachshund] could impregnate a rottweiler, Theaker said that "anything is possible" when canines are in heat.

Currently, Albie is "a very happy dog with a big personality," she added, and he has not experienced any health issues. "He's got the playful, eager-to-please attitude of a rottie and the mischief traits of a dachshund. He leaps around like a little lamb and he loves to dig."
