<p>A video of two women washing the feet of Jharkhand chief minister Raghubar Das at an event to mark Guru Purnima on Sunday has gone viral.</p>

<p>The two women washed Das&rsquo; feet as he stood on a plate full of flower petals. He was the chief guest of at the event organised in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand.</p>

<p>The incident was criticised by women&#39;s rights activists and opposition parties.</p>

<p>Congress on Monday demanded Das&rsquo; apology.</p>

<p>&quot;This is very unfortunate that Chief Minister has done such acts. This is very shameful and the Chief Minister should apologise,&quot; Congress leader Shobha Ojha told ANI.</p>

<p>Women&rsquo;s rights activist Sandhya strongly condemned the act, saying it encouraged &ldquo;anti-women ideology&rdquo;.</p>

<p>&quot;Being a chief minister, how can he encourage such kind of practice, how can he involve in such kind of practice? We strongly condemn this. It is nothing but encouraging anti-women ideology,&quot; she told ANI.</p>

<p>Guru Purnima is marked on the full-moon day of the Hindu month Ashadha and is celebrated by Hindus, Jains and Buddhists to honour one&rsquo;s gurus or teachers who guide us through our lives towards the path of enlightenment. The day falls in between June-July.</p>
