Assange has been fighting an extradition case against the US government after his publication released&nbsp;top-secret military documents about the US wars in Afghanistan and Iraq in 2010.

On Friday, the US government won an appeal to extradite Assange at the Royal Courts of Justice in London after a protracted battle.

The US government has pledged not to hold the Wikileaks founder in the high-security ADX prison in Colorado and have assured the judge that he could be transferred to Australia to serve his sentence if he is convicted.

However, Assange's lawyer Barry Pollack called the decision by the UK court "highly disturbing" while declaring that US assurances were "vague".&nbsp;

The UK distict court judge earlier this year had blocked Assange's extradition declaring him a "suicide risk" if he was transferred to the US.

Assange had spent seven years at Ecuador's embassy in London but was forced to leave after he was dragged out by British officials in 2019 as&nbsp;the new government refused to keep him.

The US Justice Department has charged Assange for conspiring with US Army intelligence analyst&nbsp;Chelsea Manning to leak documents related to the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.&nbsp;

The controversial whistleblower had leaked a military video in 2010 which showed the US Apache&nbsp;helicopter attack in Baghdad in which several civilians were killed. The video led to worldwide uproar as the US government moved to arrest Assange.

The WikiLeaks founder&nbsp;Julian Assange's case took an interesting turn as his lawyer issued a witness statement accusing the US President&nbsp;<a href="https://www.wionews.com/topics/donald-trump">Donald Trump</a>&nbsp;of bribing before the 2016&nbsp;<a href="https://www.wionews.com/topics/us-election">US elections</a>.

Assange's lawyer, Jennifer Robinson, has claimed to be present in the room when an ally of Trump&nbsp;offered to arrange for a pardon of Assange in return for information that would&nbsp;“benefit President Trump politically”.

She has alleged the then-Republican&nbsp;Representative Dana Rohrabacher of helping Trump in this arrangement. Robinson said the meeting took place at the&nbsp;Ecuadorian embassy in London in 2017, and Dana, along with an assistant, were present in the room during the conversation.

“The proposal put forward by Congressman Rohrabacher was that Mr. Assange identify the source for the 2016 election publications in return for some form of pardon, assurance or agreement, which would both benefit President Trump politically and prevent US&nbsp;indictment and extradition,” Robinson said.

The White House had earlier denied any reports of a possible pardon by claiming the reports to be&nbsp;“a complete fabrication and a total lie”.

The 49-year-old was charged with trying to hack government computers and violating an espionage law over the release of confidential cables by WikiLeaks in 2010-2011.

During the 2016 US&nbsp;presidential campaign, WikiLeaks published a series of Democratic National Committee emails damaging to candidate Hillary Clinton. U.S. investigators have concluded that the emails were hacked by Russia as part of an effort to influence the election.

The 2016 election leaks are not directly a part of the U.S. criminal case against Assange, which covers secret military and diplomatic documents published by WikiLeaks several years earlier.

News network CNN accepted interim Democratic Committee chairman Donna Brazile&#39;s resignation after leaked emails showed that she offered Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton&#39;s campaign information about presidential debate questions.

A hacked email published by WikiLeaks earlier in October suggested that she may have tipped off Clinton&#39;s advisers about a March CNN town-hall debate question about the death penalty, Reuters said.

The news network announced the political commentator&#39;s departure after a subsequent leaked email showed Brazile said she had access to &quot;questions in advance&quot; and offered to &quot;send a few more&quot;. CNN reported that Bazile offered her resignation on October 14.

CNN said in a statement that it was &quot;completely uncomfortable with what we have learned about her interactions with the Clinton campaign while she was a CNN contributor.&quot;
