At a joint press conference in Kyiv alongside Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, Blinken said, "We will provide an additional $2 billion in foreign military financing for Ukraine."&nbsp;

He said that the US has put this together in a "first-of-its-kind defence enterprise fund", and it has three components. He explained that the first is to provide weapons today so that it will assist Ukraine in acquiring those weapons. Secondly, he highlighted the importance of investing in Ukraine's defence industrial base.

Blinken stated that it will help to strengthen its capacity to produce what the nation needs for itself but also to produce for others. Finally, Ukraine can purchase military equipment from other countries, not just the US, using this fund.&nbsp;

It further said that the announcement made by Moscow was "evidence of the desperation of the Russian state machine and propaganda, which can think of no other way to attract attention".

A 2.5-minute trailer of the movie has been released, showing footage of Putin's childhood, karate practice and confrontations with his predecessor Boris Yeltsin. Termed as a political thriller by Patryk Vega, the movie was shot by Ukrainian filmmakers during the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Vega said in a statement the movie was a means of expressing his protest. "I chose to challenge Putin through art, and the camera was my weapon," he was quoted as saying in media reports. "Americans and even Western Europeans may not fully comprehend Putin. I grew up in Poland. At the same time, I was influenced by the audiovisual culture of Hollywood," he added. Summary of the movie The movie begins with Putin being abused by his father in his early years. Then, Putin joins the KGB, the former Soviet intelligence agency, where he works in the KGB branch in Dresden. Polish director to release AI-assisted Putin biopic in bid to ‘challenge him through art’

Russia on Wednesday (Apr 24) announced a deal with Ukraine to exchange almost 50 children displaced by Moscow's 'special military invasion' on neighbour Kyiv.

This comes as Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that 16 Ukrainian children who had been "forcibly deported to Russia" were "in Qatar for medical, mental, and social recovery".&nbsp;

"All of them had previously been forcibly deported to Russia, but thanks to our friendly Qatar's mediation efforts, they have been released," said Zelensky. However, he did not address Russian claims about 48 children being exchanged.

<h2>48 children to go home</h2>

In a statement, Kremlin official Maria Lvova-Belova announced that "for the first time in a face-to-face format, we held talks with the Ukrainian side. Twenty-nine children are due to go to Ukraine and 19 to Russia".

However, as per AFP, when asked to confirm the agreement, Ukraine parliament's human rights commissioner Dmytro Lubinets said he "can't confirm the information".

As Russian and Ukrainian officials met in Doha, Dmytro Lubinets, declining to confirm the exchange of children, said the two countries "don't have any direct communication on this case".

<h2>Kidnapped or protected?</h2>

This comes as more than two years into the Russia-Ukraine war, Kyiv has repeatedly accused Moscow of forcibly taking children into Russian territory. The International Criminal Court (ICC) has even issued arrest warrants against Russian President Vladimir Putin and Lvova-Belova over this.

Since July of last year, Qatar has enabled the return of dozens of Ukrainian children who were taken to Russia.

Ukraine has warned that there will be a "third world war" if it loses the conflict with Russia.&nbsp;

Speaking to BBC on Wednesday (Apr 18) in Washington, Ukraine's Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal voiced the warning while urging the United States Congress to pass a long-stalled foreign aid bill.

<h2>'Careful optimism'</h2>

Shmyhal, as per BBC, expressed "careful optimism" that the US lawmakers would pass the measure that has $61 billion earmarked for Ukraine.

"We need this money yesterday, not tomorrow, not today," said the Ukrainian leader about the much-awaited US assistance.

Earlier, too, Ukraine has voiced similar alarming warnings about the possible consequences its defeat in the battle with Russia will bring. Just last year, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had warned that after Ukraine, Russia would move on to invade Poland, triggering World War III.

<h2>Much-needed help for Ukraine</h2>

The US House of Representatives will vote on the aid package on Saturday (Apr 20). It also includes billions in funding for Israel as well as Taiwan.

Russia will be invited to the French ceremony in June to mark 80 years since the World War II D-Day landings, organisers said Tuesday (Apr 16). However, the invite will not include President Vladimir Putin.&nbsp;

As a result of the invasion, the International Criminal Court in 2023 issued an arrest warrant for Putin on the war crime accusation of unlawfully deporting Ukrainian children.&nbsp;
