The rating agency indicates that the rising regulatory requirements, high inflation, and high borrowing rates have increased ownership expenses, which has a major impact on buying decisions.

Compared to the 569,000 units sold in the fiscal year 2020, commercial vehicle sales increased by 34 per cent to over 962,000 units in the financial year 2023, according to information from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

"The 3.3 per cent Y/Y drop in commercial vehicle wholesale volume in the second quarter of FY23 marked the first yearly decline since March 2020," Reuters cited Fitch, adding that this was due to purchases made before automakers raised their prices and problems with vehicle supply following the implementation of new emission standards.

The most recent regulations mandate real-time emissions assessment, which will cause commercial cars' pricing to increase by close to 5 per cent starting in April 2023.

“We expect faster volume for medium and heavy commercial vehicles than for light commercial vehicles, due to India's rising infrastructure activities and the vulnerability of light commercial vehicles to potentially weaker rural demand due to uneven rainfall,” Reuters quoted from Fitch’s report.

As per reports, a nearby apartment building and pharmacy also caught fire.&nbsp;

According to the newspaper, around five cars and four mopeds were set alight. Before firefighters reached&nbsp;at the scene to tackle the blast, the city's Porta Romana area was&nbsp;cordoned off by police.&nbsp;

"At the moment, only the driver" had reported injuries, he said, adding that he managed to escape with "light burns".

Meanwhile, a 39-year-old labourer who was working nearby, Giuseppe said, "I heard three big explosions and more that followed. I came straight away to see what was happening, and the whole street was on fire, people were running."

The footage shared by the fire service showed a powerful blast which burned out a dozen parked cars. Many canisters were visible on the street between the remains of a destroyed vehicle.

Many BMW 3 Series, 5 Series, 1 Series, X5, X3, and Z4 vehicles from the 2006 to 2013 model years are included in the recall.

According to documents released by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Wednesday, the positive crankcase ventilation valve heater could have an electrical short.

They have the potential to overheat and catch fire.&nbsp;

The automobiles are at risk of catching fire while being driven or shortly after being parked.

Because fires have been rare, BMW claims the vehicles can still be driven.

However, according to business instructions, if a driver smells smoke or sees smoke coming from the engine compartment, they should pull over to a safe spot, turn off the engine, and exit the car.

The German automaker is still working on a solution.

Owners will be notified by letter beginning April 25, according to the statement.

The majority of the vehicles were recalled in 2017 and 2019 due to the same issue.

According to BMW papers, owners who had their vehicles repaired previously would need to have them repaired again.&nbsp;

The announcement comes on the heels of Sony's January unveiling of a new prototype, its Vision-S electric vehicle, and the announcement of a new subsidiary Sony Mobility to explore entering the EV market.

"Although Sony and Honda are companies that share many historical and cultural similarities, our areas of technological expertise are very different," Sony Group president Kenichiro Yoshida said in a statement.

"I believe this alliance which brings together the strengths of our two companies offers great possibilities for the future of mobility."

At a joint press conference, Honda CEO Toshihiro Mibe said discussions on the collaboration had picked up speed when Honda and Sony staff "felt big possibilities, like a chemical reaction" at a joint mobility workshop held last year.

Honda will be responsible for manufacturing the pair's first vehicle, but both companies will work together on design, tech and sales.

Mio Kato, an analyst at Lightstream Research who publishes on Smartkarma, said Sony would be able to make use of its technology from image sensors to next-gen display as well as AI in the new vehicles.

"(The alliance) helps Sony maintain its asset-light model and is also positive for Honda, but we do feel that it makes Honda look a little lost in the changing world," he said in a note.

At present, around 10 percent of European car sales are EVs, and the US figure is just two percent.

But demand is growing, and other major automakers including Honda's Japanese rivals are investing money and resources into electric vehicles.

Earlier this year, the Nissan auto alliance promised to offer 35 new electric models by 2030 as it announced a total investment of $25 billion in the sector.

Toyota, the world's top-selling carmaker, has also recently hiked its 2030 electric vehicle sales goal by 75 percent in a more ambitious plan for the sector.
