For a lot of us, the life of the four school friends may seem quite ideal. Kalindi(Kareena Kapoor), despite loathing the concept of marriage, says 'yes' to boyfriend Rishabh(Sumeet Vyas). Her three besties, rally around her as Kalindi- with a dysfunctional family of her own- gets set for a loud ostentatious Punjabi wedding with her beau in Delhi. During the course of the wedding, problems, issues of the other three friends come to the fore. Married to a 'Gora' Mira's(Shikha Talsania) marriage is yet to get approval from her conservative father. Sakshi(Swara Bhasker), an impulsive, potty mouth brat, is on the verge of a divorce and Avni(Sonam Kapoor), despite being a top shot lawyer, cannot find a suitable boy for herself.

While the story is tad predictable, it is the camaraderie between the four actresses that make the film light up and&nbsp;enjoyable. The friendship does not look forced and you end up enjoying their mindless banter.&nbsp;

It is perhaps the performances of the four actress that makes Veere Di Wedding a thoroughly enjoyable film. You know that a lot of things are outrageous - yet the four make you miss your friends, or remind you of some insane thing that all of you did together. Ghosh infuses desi tadka to Sex and The City and Bridesmaid mashup - and the result is very entertaining if not thought-provoking.&nbsp;

While Kareena Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor are easily the big stars of the film, it is Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania who shine the most. The two are absolutely natural- and make their characters Sakshi and Mira their own. It's a delight to watch Bhasker dealing with the neighbourhood aunties, or swearing at the drop of a hat. The two actresses get the best lines and together create a riot on screen. Kareena, in her first film post maternity break, doesn't disappoint. She has&nbsp;always been a natural on screen and as the flawed Kalindi, delivers a solid performance. Sonam has her moments as the uptight Avni.&nbsp;

The men ably support the women in the film (Here's a line I thought I'd never write for Bollywood film). Sumit Vyas, in a role that seems to be an extension of his role from the web series Permanent Roommates, also delivers a genuine performance. Vishwas Kinni who plays West Delhi dude Bhandari to the T is an actor I'd watch out for. 
 
Veere Di Wedding can be best enjoyed if you have a bit Delhi in you. The situations, the dialogues, the humour is all very specific to the city. It is going to be more enjoyable if you understand the little things that make the city what it is- the divide between the Punjabis and Bengalis, South and West Delhi and why the mention of Khalsa College makes the uptight Avni shudder.&nbsp;

There are moments which are outrageous in the film, the climax is flat, the characters deal with issues that may seem irrelevant to you, they are always dressed too perfectly and unrealistically (if I may add) but Veere Di Wedding should still be celebrated because it's a first. Because seldom does Bollywood churn out a buddy film with women as the central characters that make you laugh and celebrate sisterhood.&nbsp;

'Veere Di Wedding': Kareena and Sonam's film is outrageous and thoroughly enjoyable

With just a few hours left for the release of one of the biggest films of this season-'Veere Di Wedding'- actresses Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania seem to be at ease and quite assured with their film.&nbsp; 
 
While many would have liked to term the female-buddy film as a chick flick, the lead actresses want to steer clear of such labels.&nbsp; 
 
During a press interaction in New Delhi, both Sonam and Swara stated how the term itself is a “derogatory term for a woman”. 
 
"The film explores the friendship between four people who happen to be women. The film shows that how women support each other and are confidantes of each other. I just want to ask that whenever a movie is made with women characters in the centre, why it is called a ‘woman empowerment film’?" pointed out Sonam, whose sister Rhea Kapoor is a co-producer of the film. 
 
Swara Bhaskar also echoed friend Sonam's thoughts and said, "Basically a 'chick flick' is a strange category to put films in. Have we ever said that this film is a male-centric film or it is a ‘dude flick’? ' asked Bhasker who is known to be vocal about pertinent issues.&nbsp; 
 
“A film is a comedy, romance, action. There is no separate genre for girls only”, said Swara and added, “Such categories are misleading also because our story is about friendship not about a single section of the society." 
 
“I think boys can be friends and share the same vibe, a woman can only share the same vibe and this what we have shown in the film. Instead of labelling it, we should focus more on story, originality and on those parameters our film qualifies.” 
 
The women felt that the society unnecessarily puts labels on women. " Why is the idea of drinking and abusing limited to guys only? Why we can’t we look ahead of the fact that when four women meet, they can also talk in the similar language," said Swara. 
 
“We don’t want to be labelled, It is a film for women and men both," added Sonam. The film's being promoted on social media platforms as #IAmNotChickFlick

“We are just shying away from a label and we just don’t want to put the movie in a box," added Sonam.

Sonam does not mind if the film is called a wedding film. "Call it a wedding film, or anything but I think we should not term this film as a woman empowerment story just because it has four female friends. Or because the trailers show them cursing freely"&nbsp;

'Veere Di Wedding', directed by Shashanka Ghosh, releases in theatres on June 1. The film is Kareena Kapoor's first film post maternity break. She was last seen in 'Ki and Ka' in 2015.&nbsp;
