The new map of India with the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh has come into effect as the two Union Territories formally came into existence on October 31.

The 2019 Lok Sabha polls will be held over seven phases beginning April 11, Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora said Sunday. Arora said the polls would stretch for over a month with polling being held from April 11 to May 19, and that all votes would be counted on May 23.
