<p>The US Secret Service has rejected claims that there was a "security lapse" in former president Barack Obama's protective detail after reports claimed that an armed individual was able to reach the Democrat leader.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A TMZ report had claimed that a security guard, working at the event in Los Angeles last weekend, approached the SUV transporting the former president without any interference from Secret Service agents.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Notably, the unnamed guard told the tabloid that he saw Obama in the back of the vehicle using a laptop. The guard said he was armed at the time and quickly backed away once he recognised Obama.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The guard also claimed that Secret Service agents only approached him later to check his credentials and concealed weapon permit.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, the Secret Service&nbsp;has claimed that the report was inaccurate and that there was no breach in the security.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“The Secret Service cannot provide the details on our means and methods of protection, but we can confirm that at no time were any Secret Service protectees in the vehicle while the individual was walking down the alleyway. These claims are inaccurate,” a Secret Serice spokesperson was quoted as saying by <em>Newsweek.&nbsp;</em></p>
