The lawsuit was filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of California. A class-action lawsuit is usually the one where&nbsp;at least one person acts&nbsp;as a representative of the whole group of persons or entities sharing same concerns.&nbsp;

This comes after a Thursday report that groups of Tesla employees had secretly shared very intrusive&nbsp;videos and images taken by customers' car cameras between 2019 and 2022 via an internal messaging system.

Henry Yeh, a resident of San Francisco and owner of a Model Y from Tesla, filed the case. He&nbsp;claimed&nbsp;that Tesla employees&nbsp;had access to the pictures and videos for their "tasteless and tortious"&nbsp;enjoyment at the cost of&nbsp;"humiliation"&nbsp;of individuals who were&nbsp;secretly filmed.&nbsp;

Jack Fitzgerald, an attorney representing Yeh, told Reuters, "Like anyone would be, Mr Yeh was outraged at the idea that Tesla's cameras can be used to violate his family's privacy, which the California Constitution scrupulously protects."&nbsp;

"Tesla needs to be held accountable for these invasions and for misrepresenting its lax privacy practices to him and other Tesla owners," Fitzgerald said. It's worth noting that Tesla has earlier stated that it takes privacy seriously. However, no comments have yet been made by Tesla on the lawsuit filed.&nbsp;

<h2>Which recordings were leaked?&nbsp;</h2>

A few of the clips showed Tesla owners in awkward circumstances. For instance, a video of a man approaching a car being entirely nude was recounted by one ex-employee.&nbsp;

In another video, an ex-employee said a Tesla was shown in a collision video from 2021 travelling quickly through a residential neighbourhood before striking a child riding a bike. Both the child and the bike flew in opposite directions.&nbsp;

As per reports, the petitioner was filing the complaint "against Tesla on behalf of himself, similarly-situated class members, and the general public."&nbsp;

"Indeed, parents’ interest in their children’s privacy is one of the most fundamental liberty interests society recognises," the lawsuit said.

Moreover, the complaint urged the court to "enjoin Tesla from engaging in its wrongful behaviour, including violating the privacy of customers and others, and to recover actual and punitive damages."

A California man has sued Tesla for failing to deliver on the promise of a fully self-driving car company CEO Elon Musk has been constantly making. The man claimed the electric-car maker has “deceptively and misleadingly marketed” its driver-assistance systems, saying all this while that the company is “perpetually on the cusp of perfecting” the technology.

“Although these promises have proven false time and time again, Tesla and Musk have continued making them to generate media attention, to deceive consumers into believing it has unrivaled cutting-edge technology, and to establish itself as a leading player in the fast-growing electric-vehicle market,” Briggs A Matsko's proposed class action filed on Wednesday in San Francisco federal court said.

"Tesla&nbsp;has yet to produce anything even remotely approaching a fully self-driving car," Matsko said.

The lawsuit filed in federal court in San Francisco seeks unspecified damages for people who since 2016 bought or leased&nbsp;Tesla&nbsp;vehicles with Autopilot, Enhanced Autopilot and Full Self-Driving features.

Tesla&nbsp;has said Autopilot enables vehicles to steer, accelerate and brake within their lanes, while Full Self-Driving lets vehicles obey traffic signals and change lanes.

It has also said both technologies "require active driver supervision," with a "fully attentive" driver whose hands are on the wheel, "and do not make the vehicle autonomous."

Matsko further informed that he bought a new Tesla Model X in 2018 and paid an extra $5,000 above base price for “Enhanced Autopilot.”

“It is now four years later, and Tesla has never provided plaintiff anything remotely approaching the fully self-driving car it promised to provide,” Matsko said in the complaint.

Musk had informed in a tweet in August that Tesla would start charging $15,000 in North America for the driver-assistance system it calls Full Self-Driving, from September 5. This was the product’s second price hike this year. The FSD has attracted controversy because it requires active supervision and doesn’t make the company’s vehicles autonomous.

The lawsuit followed complaints filed on July 28 by California's Department of Motor Vehicles accusing&nbsp;Tesla&nbsp;of overstating how well its advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) worked.

According to the lawsuit, some of the plaintiffs were even denied promotions or given jobs that required the most physical labour at Tesla.&nbsp;

A Tesla shareholder has also filed a lawsuit this month, accusing Elon Musk, the company's CEO, and the board of directors of promoting a poisonous workplace atmosphere and ignoring employee complaints.

In one of the more public cases involving Tesla, a Black factory worker had accused Tesla of racial discrimination. Former elevator operator Owen Diaz claimed in his 2017 complaint that he was subjected to a hostile work environment at Tesla's Fremont, California, assembly facility, which includes racist slurs, caricatures, and swastikas.

Diaz's rejected this settlement, due to which a federal judge in California also ordered a new trial on Monday on the damages Tesla owes him.

Despite allegations of workplace misconduct, Tesla claims that it has measures in place to deal with it and denies that any wrongdoing has taken place.
