On Saturday, India's Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu said that they will carry out a structural preliminary inspection at all the airports across the country.

Naidu&nbsp;said that a report from all the airports has been sought by the ministry within 2-5 days after which necessary measures will be taken to prevent such incidents in the days ahead.

<h2>Hattrick of airport canopy collapses</h2>

This is the third canopy collapse at an airport in the last two days.&nbsp;On Thursday (June 27), a part of a fabric canopy collapsed inside the premises of the Dumna airport, Jabalpur, amid heavy rains and crushed a car parked below. No one had suffered injuries in the incident.

"The fabric canopy was put up to beautify the 'drop and go' area. Water accumulated over it due to rain. It ripped under the weight of the water and the water fell with great force on a car parked there," said airport director Rajeev Ratna Pandey, while speaking to PTI.

However, the canopy collapse at the Delhi airport turned into a tragedy after it killed a taxi driver and left others injured. The incident also became a nightmare for the passengers whose flights were cancelled.

The JFK airport in a statement wrote, “JFK Terminal 1 will remain closed on 2/17 due to electrical issues as the Port Authority continues working with the terminal’s operator to restore flight operations as quickly as possible.”&nbsp;

“Travellers should check with their carriers for flight status before coming to the airport,” the statement added.&nbsp;JFK said that the power outage was caused by an electrical panel failure. As per the airport, the panel failure resulted in a small "isolated fire overnight" that was "immediately extinguished."

As per FlightAware, a website that tracks flight data, around 29 flights in or out of JFK were cancelled early Friday.&nbsp;JFK's owner, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, said that efforts are underway to restore the flight operations as soon as possible.&nbsp;

The airport also cautioned the passengers that they should check the flight status with their carriers ahead of coming to the airport.&nbsp;It is also important to note that a planned $15 billion JFK makeover was delayed in 2020. This happened as the Covid-19 pandemic brought the airline industry to its knees.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The George Bush Intercontinental Airport is back operating as normal following a bomb scare by an impatient passenger, police said.

The part of Terminal D at the airport was briefly closed yesterday after the passenger became impatient at a ticket counter and made a comment about having explosives in his backpack, prompting security officials to intervene.

The Houston Airport System has confirmed the opening of the airport.

About 25 other passengers were evacuated from the ticketing area, and the bomb squad was called to the scene to evaluate the bag, the police added.

The terminal was reopened about 10:30 a.M (local time). It was not immediately clear if the man faces any charges, however, he was questioned by officials and his bag was searched, an airport spokesman confirmed.

Bush airport resumes operations post bomb scare

Mahatma Gandhi's Dandi March will be the theme of Sabarmati Station in Ahmedabad which will be the terminating station of the proposed high-speed rail corridor between Mumbai-Ahmedabad, a senior official said yesterday.

Passengers boarding the bullet train from Sabarmati Station will have to pay Rs. 3,000 to reach Mumbai, he told reporters.

It would the first bullet train station whose design has been finalised by the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Ltd.

Achal Khare, the managing director of NHSRCL, said the cost of building the station is approximately Rs. 250 crore.

He said the station area will have a three-level parking that can accommodate around 1,500 vehicles. While one level will be for cars, another will be for bus and the third will be for autos, thus ensuring seamless travel for passengers.

While passengers from two metro stations and stations on the Indian Railway network can arrive at Sabarmati passenger terminal hub, they can move to Sabarmati Station via a foot-over-bridge connecting the two buildings, which are 400 metres apart and board the bullet train from there.

"It will be a state-of-art complex with Dandi March being the theme of the edifice," Mr Khare said.

Roof-top solar panels will be designed resembling a revolving charkha and the terminal will be connected with a 400-metre foot-over-bridge with the platforms.

Construction work for the government's ambitious project is expected to start from December this year after completion of the land acquisition, Mr Khare said.

The proposed bullet train will run approximately 508 km between Mumbai and Ahmedabad at a top speed of 320 kmph. It will make 70 trips per day between Mumbai and Ahmedabad at an interval of 20 minutes and each rake will have 10 coaches.

The deadline for the project is August 15, 2022.
