Six of the convicts&nbsp;were given death sentences.

One was sentenced to life imprisonment.

The convicts who were given death sentences included Shankar&#39;s father-in-law.&nbsp;

Shankar, who was an engineer, and Kausalya had had an inter-caste marriage.&nbsp;

In March last year, Shankar was hacked to death by three men near a bus stand in Udumalpet, Tirupur.

Kausalya survived injuries to her head.&nbsp;

The brutal attack came to light after video footage of the attack went viral and a huge public outcry ensued.

The court said Tuesday that the killers had been hired by Shankar&#39;s father-in-law.&nbsp;

His mother-in-law was acquitted.&nbsp;
