<p>Ever since Irrfan Khan passed away, it is his wife Sutapa Sikdar and son Babil, who have been sharing memories and anecdotes of the late star from his life. On the occasion of Babil`s 24th birthday, Sutapa took a stroll down memory lane and recalled how Irrfan beamed with joy after the birth of his elder son. "The smile on Irrfan`s face when he first saw you couldn`t be recreated in a performance by Irrfan himself. It`s etched on my mind.. the curtains of the hospital room were dancing as if the nurses had descended as angels, celebrating with him at the peak of mount Everest, but his celebration was still, the expression; the laughter, the joy, the tears cascaded out of him without the need for movement, as everything around him flowed. In that moment, Irrfan was a perfect picture of Lord Shiva," she reminisced.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Sutapa also shared a string of images of Irrfan with baby Babil. In one of the pictures, Irrfan is seen giving a piggyback ride to Babil. The other image shows Irrfan sleeping next to little Babil. Another image features the `Piku` actor holding his son in his arms.&nbsp;</p>

"Let me confess on your 24th birthday Babil the dichotomy of thunderstorms and azaan during your birth, which I later understood was just like your temperament, has made parenting very challenging (to put it mildly) but the beauty is when you wish to pour from the sky like rain drops that wash us off our ill wills. The fragrance after, that saundhi mitti ki khusbu you bring to our life is irreplaceable !! Thank you ! You are stubbornly decisive, my resistance towards your career choices blew away like a dry leaf in a thunderstorm," she wrote.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"But in this phase of our relationship, I have completely accepted you. Sometimes with a broken heart and colossal embarrassment when you dance to `chaldi kuri ...` you have made me unprejudiced. I thank god, because the intensity with which you sing Chaldi kuri matches immaculately with the intensity with which you (attempt) to sing Nusrat sahab`s songs, the sensitivity within you is unaffected by judgement. You are this and you are that but to top it all you are my first born," she added.&nbsp;</p>

On Friday, his wife, writer-producer Sutapa Sikdar opened up about her two-and-half years of journey fighting cancer along with her husband and thanked his doctors for hand-holding through the entire journey.<br />

In the statement, Sutapa stated that she could not call it a family statement when the whole world was calling Irrfan death's a personal loss. She though urged everyone to not see this as a loss but more like a gain.</p>

<em>"It’s unbelievable for us but I would put it in Irrfan’s words, “it’s magical” whether he is there or not there, and that’s what he loved, he never loved one dimensional reality. The only thing I have a grudge against him is; he has spoiled me for life. His strive for perfection doesn’t let me settle for ordinary in any thing. </em></p>

<p><em>There was a rhythm which he always saw in everything, even in cacophony and chaos, so I have learnt to sing and dance to the music of that rhythm, even with my tone-deaf voice and two left feet. Funnily, our life was a masterclass in acting, so when the dramatic entry of the “uninvited guests” happened, I had by then learnt, to see a harmony in the&nbsp; cacophony. The doctor’s reports were like scripts which I wanted to perfect, so I never miss any detail that he sought for in his performance. </em></p>

<p><em>We met some amazing people in this journey and the list is endless, but there are some whom I have to mention, our oncologist Dr. Nitesh Rohtogi (Max hospital Saket) who held our hand in the beginning, Dr. Dan Krell (UK), Dr. Shidravi (UK), my heartbeat and my lantern in the dark Dr. Sevanti Limaye (Kokilaben hospital). It’s difficult to explain what a wondrous, beautiful, overwhelming, painful and exciting this journey has been. I find this 2 and 1/2 years to have been an interlude, which had it’s own beginning, middle and culmination with Irrfan helming the role of the orchestra conductor, separate from the 35 years of our companionship, ours was not a marriage, it was a union. </em></p>

<p><em>I see my little family, in a boat, with both my sons Babil and Ayaan, paddling it forward, with Irrfan guiding them “wahan nahi, yahan se modo” but since life is not cinema and there are no retakes, I sincerely wish my children sail this boat safely with their father’s guidance in mind and rockabye through the storm. I asked my children, if possible, they could sum up a lesson taught by their father that has been important to them;<br />

<p>Also, there is one project that is still in the works which stars Irrfan Khan -- his last to the world of cinema. While many thought ‘Angrezi Medium’ was his last project starring Kareena Kapoor, Deepak Dobriyal, Pankaj Tripathi and Radhika but there is hope.</p>

<p>He has an unreleased international project titled ‘Mantra- Song of Scorpions’ that is about a young woman-singer in the desert of Rajasthan. She sings and heals people. One day when she realises that her life has been poisoned by the man in her life, she then has to go on a kind of mystical journey to find a song that will heal her.</p>

<p>The lead role is essayed by renowned Iranian actress, Golshifteh Farahani who was last seen in the Chris Hemsworth starrer ‘Extraction’. The film also has Waheeda Rehman who appears in a brief but important role.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The 2017 film is yet to release and we’re sure none of his fans can wait to see him, if only for the last time, in a new role.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Days after Irrfan Khan confirmed <a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/irrfan-khan-has-a-sweet-message-for-fans-as-he-returns-to-mumbai-post-cancer-treatment-207680">his comeback to films</a>, his wife Sutapa Sikdar took to Facebook to penn a heartfelt note. In her emotional post, Sikdar thanked those who had prayed for Irrfan and the family and termed that past year as 'longest year of our life.'<br />

"Longest year of our life. Time was never measured with pain and hope at the same time ever. While we take our baby steps back to work, to life, I am submerged in prayers, wishes and faith from friends, relatives, strangers and a connection with the universe which gives us a small chance for this new start," she wrote on Facebook last Friday.<br />

The actor-producer, who met Irrfan while studying at the National School of Drama (NSD), said it was the prayer of well-wishers, both known and unknown, that kept her going in this difficult period of life.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;<br />

"It seems unbelievable... Never ever I realised the meaning of the word unpredictable so well? Never ever I could feel people's wishes on my bones, my breath (and) my heartbeat, which helped me to stay focused and kicking...&nbsp;</p>
