<p>The last rites of Srinivas Kuchibhotla,&nbsp;the Indian engineer who was killed in a Kansas bar shooting, was performed today afternoon (February 28) at Jubilee Hills, his family members said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>His mortal remains&nbsp;arrived on Monday night at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad by a special Air India flight from where it was taken to his home in&nbsp;Bachupally area on the outskirts of Hyderabad.</p>

<p>The mother of Srinivas, Vardhini&nbsp;told reporters that no parents should suffer like them and urged all Indians to be united and make sure that such an incident doesn&#39;t happen again, reported PTI.</p>

<p>&quot;There are not many highly educated persons in our family. We thought he would earn a name for himself and the family, besides being well-off. We have never thought that he would be on newspapers and TV channels like this. No parents should suffer like this,&quot; she said.</p>

<p>Noting that the US is a land of immigrants, she wondered how can professionals be stopped from working in the country.</p>

<p>Srinivas had been working at the Garmin headquarters in Olathe in Kansas City. Another Indian and his colleague Alok Madasani were injured in the incident.</p>

<p>The incident took place at Austins Bar and Grill in Olathe in Kansas City in the US state of Missouri.</p>

<p>Ian Grillot, an&nbsp;American, was injured when he tried to tackle the accused, Adam Purinton,51, a US navy veteran was arrested last Thursday, five hours after the incident.</p>

<p>Purinton had reportedly yelled &quot;get out of my country&quot; before opening fire on Kuchibhotla and Madasani.</p>

<p>Adam Purinton, 51, faces one charge of first-degree murder and two charges of attempted first-degree murder in last Wednesday&#39;s shooting in Olathe that killed one person and injured two others.</p>

<p>CNN affiliate KSHB&nbsp;released 911 calls in which an Applebee&#39;s bartender told the police that a man had admitted to shooting two &quot;Iranian&quot; people in Olathe and was looking for a place to hide. Purinton was arrested hours later at an Applebee&#39;s restaurant in Clinton, Missouri, about 70 miles away from Olathe.</p>

<p>A witness of the shooting Jeremy Luby told CNN that the incident began after a man became agitated with Srinivas Kuchibhotla and Alok Madasani, at Austins Bar &amp; Grill.Ian Grillot, a regular at the bar, approached the man and asked him to leave.</p>

<p>&quot;He said (to Grillot), &#39;Why are you standing up for them?&#39; He emphasised &#39;them,&#39; as if &#39;them&#39; was a derogatory term,&quot; Luby told CNN. The suspect left the bar and drove away, according to Grillot.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He allegedly returned later and allegedly opened fire in the bar.</p>
