Simon Beaufoy, the writer of the film&nbsp;Slumdog Millionaire,&nbsp;will adapt Giller-prize winner&nbsp;Michael Ondaatje&#39;s novel In the Skin of a Lion&nbsp;for his next big screen project.

Ondaatje&#39;s novel, first published in 1987, fictionalised the not-so-acknowledged lives of immigrants who built the city of Toronto, Canada.

The adapted film will be produced by Serendipity Point films and Potboiler Films and focuses on romance and class conflict, reported <a href="http://deadline.com/2017/06/slumdog-millionaire-scribe-simon-beaufoy-to-adapt-in-the-skin-of-a-lion-serendipity-point-films-potboiler-film4-1202115818/" target="_blank">Deadline</a>.

Beaufoy has written screenplays for many films, including&nbsp;127 Hours, The Full Monty, Salmon Fishing In The Yemen, and Everest. He won an Academy Award for the best adapted screenplay in 2009 for Slumdog Millionaire.

Ondaatje is best known for his novel The English Patient, which was also adapted into a film in 1996. The movie adaptation of his book won&nbsp;nine Oscars, including best picture, best director and&nbsp;best supporting actress for Juliette Binoche.&nbsp;
