Pakistan&#39;s prime minister will appear before an anti-corruption investigation commission over allegations against his family, a government minister said Sunday.&nbsp;

Nawaz Sharif and his children are accused of graft in an ongoing case which has gripped Pakistan and threatened to topple the prime minister after the Panama Papers leak last year linked the family to offshore businesses.

&quot;Yes, the government has received a letter by the Joint Investigation Team in which he has been directed to appear before this committee and he will appear in front of them,&quot; information and broadcast minister Marriyum Aurangzeb told Geo television network.

The letter, circulated on social media, is signed by the head of the JIT and asks Sharif to &quot;appear and associate with the JIT on Thursday, June 15&quot;.

It also asks the prime minister to &quot;bring all relevant record&quot;.

Pakistan&#39;s Supreme Court in April ordered a joint investigation team of anti-corruption officials, along with the powerful Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Military Intelligence, to probe the claims and issue a report within 60 days.

Pakistani cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan, whose Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf party has spearheaded the push against Sharif, has called on the prime minister to resign until the investigation is completed.

The controversy erupted with the publication of 11.5 million secret documents from Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca last year documenting the offshore dealings of many of the world&#39;s rich and powerful.

Three of Sharif&#39;s four children -- his daughter and presumptive political heir Maryam, and his sons Hasan and Hussein -- were implicated.

At the heart of the case is the legitimacy of the funds used by the Sharif family to purchase several high-end London properties via offshore companies.

The ruling PML-N party insists the wealth was acquired legally, through family businesses in Pakistan and the Gulf.&nbsp;

Panama papers case: Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif to appear before anti-graft probe team

Amid a chill in India-Pakistan ties, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today called a high-level meeting and reviewed the current status of the country&#39;s ties with its neighbours and strategic partners, according to an official statement.

Sharif said Pakistan believes in peaceful co-existence with all countries of the region and looks forward to establish with them strong and mutually beneficial relations.

&quot;Peaceful coexistence, mutual respect and economically integrated region must be our shared objective and we must strive for realising this objective. This could be possible only when we demonstrate a commitment to our aspirations of peace, progress and prosperity,&quot; Sharif said during the meeting.

His remarks come amid severe low&nbsp;in Indo-Pak ties after Pakistan-based terrorists attacked an Indian army base in Uri in September. 
Sharif added that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor&nbsp;was a &quot;cornerstone of our own quest for regional connectivity and shared prosperity&quot;.

The meeting evaluated various policy options in response to different challenges in regard to foreign relations. It focused on issues pertaining to regional, external and internal security situation.

It also reviewed bilateral and multi-lateral relations with neighbouring countries, future roadmap for regional stability and maintenance of mutually beneficial relations with all countries in the region and beyond.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan, army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, ISI chief Lt. Gen&nbsp;Naveed Mukhtar, Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Special Assistant to PM Tariq Fatemi, National Security Advisor Lt&nbsp;Gen&nbsp;(R) Nasser Khan Janjua and other senior officials attended the meeting.

Pakistan seeks peaceful ties with neighbours: Sharif

Islamabad: As Pakistan celebrates its 70th Independence Day, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Sunday dedicated the day to the freedom movement in Kashmir. 
 
&quot;I dedicate this year`s 14th August to the freedom of Kashmir,&quot; the Express Tribune quoted Sharif as saying. 
 
An official release by the Prime Minister&#39;s house states the main Independence Day event will be a flag-hoisting ceremony in the federal capital, where President Mamnoon Hussain would address the nation. 
 
The flag-hoisting ceremonies would also be held in all provincial capitals and district headquarters.Sharif also paid homage to the martyrs, who have laid down their lives for the country. 
 
&quot;We remember all our martyrs from every segment of the state. They are in every political party, every field of life, every religion. They are all Pakistanis. They are individuals of one nation,&quot; he said. 
 
He also said that this 14th August also carried deep feelings of grief as the pain of Quetta`s martyrs is still fresh. 
 
Remembering Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, he said that Pakistan`s creation was impossible without the former`s leadership. 
 
&quot;When we remember the Quaid, leaders and workers of Pakistan Movement, our hearts are enlightened with the memory people who have become immortal by sacrificing their lives for the country,&quot; he said. 
 
Meanwhile, President Mamnoon in his Independence Day message urged the nation to forge unity to secure a better and brighter future for the coming generations. 
 
&quot;We need to initiate the process of correction individually, then from homes and communities to derive more benefits and ensure the democratic values take root at the state, governmental and administrative levels to pave the way for a meaningful change,&quot; he said. 
 
Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali also extended heartiest felicitations to the countrymen.The day will finally dawn with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad and 21-gun salute in the provincial capitals.
