Joe Corre, son of Sex Pistols manager Malcom McLaren, has decided to set ablaze&nbsp;rare multi-million pounds worth of band&#39;s memorabilia on Saturday, for he believes that music has become heavily corporatised and is only &quot;conning&quot; the youth.

Corre&#39;s announcement to burn Sex Pistols records and other ephemera comes on the 40th anniversary of the release of their shapeshifting debut album &#39;Anarchy in the UK&#39;.

Some of the artefacts that will go up in smoke include&nbsp;clothing belonging to Johnny Rotten and Corr&eacute;&rsquo;s mother,&nbsp;<a data-component="auto-linked-tag" data-link-name="auto-linked-tag" href="https://www.theguardian.com/fashion/vivienne-westwood">Vivienne Westwood</a>, and a Sid Vicious doll embossed with a swastika, The Guardian reported.

&quot;I&#39;ve been wondering for a long time what to do with it all and I think this is the right opportunity to say &#39;You know what, punk is dead. Stop conning a younger generation that it somehow has any currency to deal with the issues that they face&#39;,&quot; he said on Thursday.

&quot;It&#39;s (Punk) dead and it&#39;s time to think about something else.&quot;

Corre said he made up his mind after an event named Punk London decided to honour the iconic band&#39;s 40th anniversary of their album. He said the event was supported by the queen, a sign of how mainstream music has come under control of &quot;the establishment&quot;.

The site of the rather very expensive bonfire will reportedly take place either in Chelsea, Brixton or Camden.

Corre&#39;s bold announcement comes 16 years after his father Malcom McLaren had stated that punk had died.

However, Corre said he would keep certain items&nbsp;of sentimental value.

Sex Pistols were known as an iconoclastic band that often took aim at the establishment.
