Several messages posted on social media platform X purportedly from a group identifying as terrorists from Pakistan have put security agencies on high alert in Mumbai and Delhi on Monday morning.

The message claimed that an Air India flight operating from Mumbai to New York had 6 kg of RDX, six terrorists on board, and it would be hijacked, sending a panic message to airport security.

A senior officer in airport security informed that on Monday at 3.30 am, Air India received two messages on X from a user named Fazluddin Nirban regarding a bomb, stating, "6 kg of RDX and our 6 terrorists are travelling in your flight VT-AER AI 119 New York, this flight will be hijacked in next 20 min and will be blown up in the sky. Today India will cry. Pakistan Zindabad."

Immediately, the matter was informed to all concerned. In this regard, the bomb threat assessment committee (BTAC) was convened at Mumbai and Delhi and declared the threat as "specific" at about 03: 55 hrs. The said Air India flight was diverted to Delhi and landed at IGI Airport at around 4 am.

"We are investigating the origin of the message. It has been removed from the platform where it was posted. We haven't found any suspicious person or item on the flight. Simultaneously, we are also investigating the similar type of threat received regarding Indigo planes around the same time," said the officer.

After the flight landed, the details of all passengers were checked, and the entire plane was frisked by the team.

"Following standard security protocols, a thorough inspection was conducted, and no suspicious items were found," said Usha Rangnani, DCP (Delhi Airport)

"Flight AI119 operating from Mumbai to JFK on October 14 received a specific security alert and on instructions of the government's security regulatory committee was diverted to Delhi. All passengers have disembarked and are at the Delhi airport terminal. Our colleagues on the ground are making sure to minimise the inconvenience caused to our guests by this unexpected disruption. Air India is committed to and accords top priority to the safety and security of its passengers and crew," said the Air India spokesperson.

"We confirm that all 239 passengers and 19 crew have disembarked and are currently undergoing security procedures. Refreshments have been provided to the passengers. Guests will be moved to hotels once security protocols are completed. The flight has been rescheduled to the morning of October 15," the spokesperson added.

Two Indigo Flights operating from Mumbai Airport to Muscat and Jeddah received a bomb threat on Monday morning. The aircraft were taken to an isolated bay, and following the standard operating procedure, mandatory security checks were promptly initiated, said Indigo spokesperson.

Seven Australian women who were strip-searched and forced to undergo invasive gynaecological examinations at the Doha airport last year are mulling to sue the Qatar government.

Damian Sturzaker, from Sydney-based Marque Lawyers, said on Monday that his clients were seeking compensation “for the fact that they were effected at the time and continue to suffer”.

The women alleged that they were ordered to disembark from the flight to Sydney and were checked whether they had given birth after a baby was found in a plastic bag bin at Hamad Airport in October 2020.

Describing their experience as “state-sanctioned assault”, the women said they did not give consent to the examinations and were not given explanations for what was happening to them.

The women, aged from their early 30s to late 50s, claimed that the examinations lasted about five minutes before they were escorted back to their flight.

The incident came to the fore when the women reported the matter to police after landing in Australia, sparking public attention and condemnation from several nations.

After the Australian government decried the incident, Qatar apologised and handed a suspended jail term for one airport official.

At the time, Qatar's Prime Minister Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani tweeted an apology saying, “We regret the unacceptable treatment of the female passengers... What took place does not reflect Qatar's laws or values.”

But the women say their cases have been ignored since then.

One of the women, who did not wish to be named, told the BBC she was “subjected to the most horrifically invasive physical exam”.

“I was certain that I was either going to be killed by one of the many men that had a gun, or that my husband on the plane was going to be killed,” she said in a statement from her lawyer.

Meanwhile, the airline has denied liability while the Qatar government said it was considering the women’s claim, Sturzaker said.

“We don’t hold out much hope in relation to anything other than a rejection of the claim,” Sturzaker said, indicating that the claim would go to trial.

Abbasi revealed that he had travelled to the US for the last 40 years and has gone through routine security checks multiple times during his visits, Express Tribune reported.

"I've even seen former US president Bill Clinton go through such security checks. When one visits another country, it is best to respect their laws and protocol. I don't think it reduces my respect, I think it increases it. Whether I am the Prime Minister or not, it should not be deemed disrespectful if I went through their security check," Abbasi said.

The Pakistan Prime Minister explained that he could have requested for VIP protocol by writing a letter to the US embassy and asked the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to accompany him at the airport and "they would have concealed me and taken me through secret pathways at the airport", but he opted not to.

"The law is the same for everyone and I think it's more respectful to be in accordance with the law," Abbasi further said.

Last month, there were reports that Abbasi was frisked at the John F. Kennedy airport in New York during the security procedure.
