In the wake of the unfortunate prop gun shooting accident on the set of Alec Baldwin's film 'Rust' that led to the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, the American Film Institute (AFI) has set up a scholarship for women cinematographers.

Director and writer Olia Oparina, who calls Hutchins 'her closest friend' and worked with Hutchins on the 2017 film 'Snowbound', said in her statement to Variety, "From the moment I sat down next to Halyna in UCLA extension’s film directing class, I knew we would be best friends."
