The launch is scheduled for 9.18 am (local time) Friday, from India's spaceport at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, in southern Andhra Pradesh state.

Based on the important lessons learnt from the setback faced by the maiden launch on August 7, 2022, several changes have been made to the rocket's sub-systems to ensure flawless flight.&nbsp;

Generally, the first two or three flights of a new rocket are known as "developmental flights". These are opportunities for the rocket to showcase its real-world performance and worthiness as a dependable launcher.

While several aspects of a rocket's flight can be simulated and studied, the experience and scientific data gained from a launch are crucial to understanding the characteristics of the vehicle. Following two or three developmental flights, the rocket is declared operational and is used for routine missions.&nbsp;

SSLV is a simple and easy-to-build rocket when compared to ISRO's routine launchers such as the PSLV, GSLV and LVM3. The SSLV is a rocket that is powered almost entirely by solid fuel, whereas the PSLV is powered by solid and liquid fuels and the GSLV series of rockets are powered by solid, liquid and cryogenic fuels.

Being powered by solid fuel also means that the SSLV rocket stages can be assembled at short notice or even be stored with onboard fuel. It is said that it takes less than a week for a handful of engineers and technicians to assemble the SSLV, in contrast with hundreds of personnel and anywhere between 30-45 days for assembling India's larger rockets.

In terms of technical specifications, the&nbsp;SSLV is a three-stage launch vehicle configured with three solid propulsion stages and a liquid propulsion-based velocity trimming module (VTM) as a terminal stage.

SSLV measures 2m in diameter and 34m in length, with a lift-off weight of nearly 120 tonnes. It is capable of launching 500kg payloads in orbits 500km above the earth's surface. The key features of SSLV are low-cost with low turn-around time, flexibility in accommodating multiple satellites, launch on-demand feasibility, minimal launch infrastructure requirements, etc.

During the maiden launch, a vibration disturbance caused during the vehicle's second stage separation affected the onboard sensors data and software built into the rocket had taken corrective actions to perform the satellite injection.

However, the satellites were not injected into the requisite orbit and also lacked the velocity to remain in a stable orbit. This meant that the payloads were lost and the mission was unsuccessful, though many of the vehicle's flight parameters were demonstrated well.

During Friday's mission, the SSLV would be injecting India's EOS-7, an Earth Observation Satellite and two passenger satellites Janus-1 from USA and student satellite AzaadiSAT-2 into a 450km circular orbit.&nbsp;

“Data analyses are in progress to determine the reasons of this failure,” it said.

It was the Vega C rocket's maiden commercial launch. This is Europe's light launcher, with the&nbsp;capacity to carry roughly 800 kilogrammes (1,700 pounds) into orbit.

Two Airbus Pleiades Neo 5 and 6 earth observation satellites were planned&nbsp;to be put into orbit by the launch, which was carried out by the European Space Agency. The constellation of satellites would have been able to capture photos at a resolution of 30 centimetres of any location on Earth (11.8 inches).

On 13 July, the rocket completed its first flight successfully. 12 of the ESA's 22 member states are involved in the Vega C development programme, which is run by the organisation.

The Vikram series of rockets are named after the Indian Physicist and Astronomer Dr. Vikram A Sarabhai, who founded the Indian Space Programme and laid down the ambitious vision for India to use space technology to benefit the common man.&nbsp;

It will be burning a combination of Aluminium and Ammonium Perchlorate, with Hydroxyl-terminated Polybutadiene acting as a binder. This is a tried and tested solid fuel and is also the same fuel that is used in the solid-stages of India's PSLV and GSLV rockets. ISRO (then known as INCOSPAR) began experimenting with small rockets in the early 1960s and marked the beginning of India's Space programme and the launch of a private rocket from India will kick-start a new era for the private space sector in India.

Though India has end-to-end indigenous capability in designing, building and launching rockets, orbiting satellites and using the data for civilian strategic purposes, India is a small player in the global market. While India does launch satellites for foreign nations, India's share remains around 1.6-2% of the $450bn global market. Private sector players with their innovative ideas and competitive pricing are expected to gradually push the share further and create an aerospace ecosystem in India. Preparations are in full swing in India's spaceport at Satish Dhawan Space Centre(SDSC), as the country gears up for the maiden commercial launch of the GSLV Mark3 rocket. Standing 44-nearly metres tall and weighing 640 tonnes, the GSLV Mark 3 is India's heaviest operational rocket. In a significant step-up for India in the global commercial rocket launch market, the GSLV Mark 3 will be making its maiden commercial flight by October-end, to orbit satellites from UK-based OneWeb.

The three-stage GSLV Mark3 rocket is powered by a solid-fueled first stage that is comprised of two strap-on boosters, followed by a liquid-fueled core stage and the final cryogenic stage. While the first two stages are responsible for lift-off and propelling the rocket out of the earth's atmosphere and into space, the final cryogenic stage provides it with high velocity and injects the satellites into the desired orbit.

The GSLV Mk3 is a special rocket for India, as it has a track record of delivering total success in the four launches it has had to date. So far, the rocket has had flights in 2014, 2017, 2018, and 2019. The high-profile Chandrayaan-2 lunar mission was also carried out on the Mk3 rocket in 2019. This is also a vehicle that ISRO has pinned high hopes on for the Gaganyaan human spaceflight mission, as this rocket is being modified to carry Indian astronauts to space.

At present, the two solid strap-on boosters and the liquid core stage of the rocket have been fully integrated at the second launch pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota. The mission update added that the 36 satellites from OneWeb have successfully undergone health checks and have been assembled with the dispenser unit. In the coming days, the integration of the cryogenic upper stage (the final stage) of the rocket and the integration of the payload fairing( protective shield that houses the satellites) with 36 satellites will take place.

NewSpace India Limited(NSIL), the commercial arm of ISRO, has signed two launch service contracts with Network Access Associated Limited(OneWeb), UK for launching OneWeb LEO Broadband Communication Satellites on board ISRO's heaviest launcher GSLV Mark 3. This is a historic milestone for India as it will mean the foray of GSLV Mark3 into the global commercial launch service market.

OneWeb is a global communications network powered by space, enabling connectivity for governments, businesses, and communities. It is implementing a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites. India's Bharti serves as a major investor and shareholder in OneWeb. Recently, WION reported about the OneWeb passenger satellites having arrived at the Chennai airport in India, from the US.

Standing 44-nearly metres tall and weighing 640 tonnes, the GSLV Mark 3 is India's heaviest operational rocket. In a significant step-up for India in the global commercial rocket launch market, the GSLV Mark 3 will be making its maiden commercial flight by October-end, to orbit satellites from UK-based OneWeb. The three-stage GSLV Mark3 rocket is powered by a solid-fueled first stage that is comprised of two strap-on boosters, followed by a liquid-fueled core stage and the final cryogenic stage. So far, the rocket has had flights in 2014, 2017, 2018, and 2019. The high-profile Chandrayaan-2 lunar mission was also carried out on the Mk3 rocket in 2019.
