<p>A report by The Indian Express said that Moitra has been booked&nbsp;under Section 79 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to work, gesture or act intending to outrage the modesty of a woman.</p>

<p>Hitting out at the TMC MP, the NCW said, "The crude remarks are outrageous and a violation of a woman's right to dignity. The Commission observed that this remark attracts Section 79 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, 2023."</p>

<p>"NCW strongly condemns these defamatory remarks and requests strict action against Ms&nbsp;Moitra," the commission wrote on X.&nbsp;</p>

'Gunjan Saxena' controversy: NCW head asks makers to discontinue the screening of film

<p>National Commission for Women (NCW) has urged the Karnataka Police to investigate into an incident in which Congress leader Siddaramaiah allegedly misbehaved with a woman.</p>

<p>Taking cognizance of the news reports on the incident, NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma in a letter to state DGP Neelmani Raju on Monday requested for an investigation and action as per relevant provisions of law.</p>

<p>She has also urged that the commission should be apprised of the developments.</p>

<p>Earlier in the day, former Karnataka Chief Minister&nbsp;Siddaramaiah was caught on camera losing his cool while interacting with a woman in Mysuru.</p>

<p>In a video, Siddaramaiah was seen&nbsp;snatching away the mike from the woman's hand and in the process, her '<em>dupatta</em>'&nbsp;also dropped. The woman was apparently raising some issue, which agitated the Congress leader.</p>

<p>She said she had asked the Haryana Police Commissioner for a detailed report on the rapes, but that she had not been satisfied with it.</p>

<p>The Haryana rapes have included the gang rape of an&nbsp;11 year old&nbsp;in Panipat. According to the police, she was strangled to death and then raped again after she was dead.</p>

<p>The&nbsp;<a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/now-3-year-old-raped-by-minor-in-haryana-29873">three-year-old</a>&nbsp;daughter of a labourer was abducted and allegedly raped by a 14-year-old boy, her neighbour, on Tuesday in Hisar.</p>

<p>A 15 year old was&nbsp;<a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/haryana-rape-and-murder-class-12th-suspect-found-dead-in-kurukshetra-29852">raped and murdered</a>&nbsp;in Kurushetra and her mutilated body was later found a 100 kms away in Jind.</p>

<p>And A 45-year-old labourer was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl and inserting a wooden stick inside her private parts near Pinjore.</p>

<p>The opposition Congress meanwhile has lashed out at the Manohar Lal Khattar government over the deteriorating law and order situation.&nbsp;</p>

Another rape in Haryana, the sixth in six days

<p>&nbsp;National Commission of Women&#39;s (NCW) acting president Rekha Sharma on Saturday welcomed the Cabinet&#39;s approval of a Bill to make instant triple talaq or talaq-e-biddat a criminal offence.</p>

<p>&quot;We fought because we were getting complaints regarding this. We welcome this move by the Cabinet. I also would like to add that any welfare scheme or policy should not be based on religion. The law should be common for everyone. This move is for the betterment of our society. I want triple talaq to be abolished altogether,&quot; she told ANI.</p>

<p>The bill termed as the &#39;Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, 2017&#39; seeks to criminalise the practice of instant divorce in Islam.</p>

<p>Cleared earlier yesterday, it will now be introduced in the winter session of Parliament.</p>

<p>The Supreme Court, in August, had passed the order terming the practice of instant triple talaq (divorce) as &quot;unconstitutional.&quot;</p>

<p>Despite the order, there have been sporadic incidents of husbands calling off their marriages through phones or messages or by uttering the word &#39;talaq&#39; thrice.</p>

<p>Now since the law has been framed to make triple talaq an offence, the victims will have the option of approaching the police and legal system for the redressal of their grievances and for the action to be taken against the husband.</p>
