Former Railways Board chairman, A K Mittal, resigned yesterday after two train accidents in five days, the latest being Wednesday&rsquo;s Auraiya derailment that left at least 20 people injured.&nbsp;

&quot;Orders promoting me as Chairman, Railway Board have been issued today. I shall be joining my parent organisation, the Indian Railways tomorrow,&quot; Lohani said in a statement on Wednesday.&nbsp;

Lohani has earlier been the divisional railway manager (DRM) of &nbsp;Delhi division, director, National Rail Museum; and chief administrative officer, Rail Alternate Fuel.
