The Punjab Police's Counter-Intelligence wing today said that it has arrested a youth from Mohali who allegedly learned making IEDs with 'do it yourself' kits, after Pakistan's ISI contacted him over Facebook.

According to a police spokesperson, preliminary interrogation has revealed that he was acting at the behest of his ISI handlers, who had tasked him with carrying out blasts in Punjab with explosives made from locally available chemicals, and devices bought from e-commerce websites.

The accused, Inderjit Singh alias Rinku, was an engineering graduate and has also done MBA. He was currently working with a private company in Faridabad.

"Singh, a resident of Faridabad, was nabbed on Wednesday from SAS Nagar (Mohali), and explosive materials, including chemicals and advanced electronic remote control devices, were seized from his car bearing Haryana registration number," the spokesperson said.

"By nabbing the radicalised youth, trained in making Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) with the help of Pakistan's ISI, the counter-intelligence wing of the Punjab Police has averted a major lone wolf attack in the state," he said.

During interrogation, Inderjit revealed that he was contacted by ISI officers over Facebook about two years ago and since then he had been interacting with them and learning to make explosives with 'Do It Yourself' kits, the police spokesperson said.

"Investigations indicate that Pakistani intelligence officers had chosen him because of his posts and profile on social media, and they went on to radicalise him," he said.

The spokesperson said the Pakistani intelligence officers who contacted Inderjit were also coordinating with the terror module that was busted by the state police's counter-intelligence wing on May 29 last year.

"The mastermind of that terror module, Harbarinder Singh, a resident of Mohali, was also in contact with Inderjit Singh over Facebook. After Harbarinder Singh's arrest, Inderjit was operating as a lone wolf," he said, adding Inderjit was highly radicalised and motivated to carry out terrorist activities.

"The explosive materials recovered from his possession included Digital Remote Control (multifunctional type), light remote control and various other materials including chemicals. The explosive material and the accessories were found concealed in his vehicle, which he had used for travelling from Faridabad to SAS Nagar," he said.

His arrest came close on the heels of the counter-intelligence wing arresting four youths from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district on Monday, who were allegedly trained by the Pakistani intelligence agency and were planning to highlight the Khalistan issue during IPL matches to be held in Mohali.

A case has been registered against Inderjit Singh under the provisions of the Prevention of Unlawful Activities Act and the Explosive Substances Act, the spokesperson said, adding further investigation is underway.&nbsp

Delhi: Five arrested after shootout with Delhi & Punjab Police in Dwarka

Two Babbar Khalsa <a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/al-qaida-terrorist-arrested-in-delhi-police-20349" target="_blank">terrorists</a>&nbsp;were arrested in Uttar Pradesh today, police said. The terrorists were the key links in the supply of weapons to the Babbar Khalsa, which is an&nbsp;internationally-designated terrorist organisation.&nbsp;

The two were arrested in a joint operation by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-terrorist squad(UP ATS) and the Punjab Police.&nbsp;

One of the terrorists named Satnam, was arrested from Kheri, Lakhimpur, while the other was arrested from Mailani, another area in the Lakhimpur, ANI reported.&nbsp;

In past month, two&nbsp;members of the same terror group, Balwant Singh and Jaswant Singh, were arrested by UP ATS.&nbsp;

On the radar of these highly radicalised youth were Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar, as well as those responsible for incidents of sacrilege/desecration, according to a police spokesperson.

These arrests have come close on the heels of the apprehension of five other members of the group, who were nabbed on May 26 from Bathinda district.

The youth had come together to form the group - Khalistan Zindabad - after being radicalised over the Facebook and other social media platforms by certain individuals based in Pakistan, various Middle Eastern countries and the UK.

Working in close collaboration with their handlers and associates based in India and abroad, the youth were in the process of mobilisation of funds, procurement of militant hardware, such as weapons, and arranging training for its members, when the Mohali Police swooped on them in an intelligence operation spread over May 29 and 30.

The four suspects have been booked under various sections of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, Arms Act, and Indian Penal Code (IPC). They have been remanded in police custody for seven days.

The police officials have identified them as Harbarinder Singh, Amritpal Kaur, Jarnail Singh and Randeep Singh.

While Harbarinder and Amritpal were nabbed from the Mohali bus stand on May 29, Jarnail and Randeep were arrested on May 30 from Gurdaspur and Ludhiana respectively.

The police have seized two pistols of 32 bore (with 4 magazines and 5 live rounds) from the four youth nabbed on Monday night. The earlier arrests, from near Kotra, PS Rampura, district Bathinda, had led to the recovery of two weapons (one .315 bore pistol and one 12 bore pistol).

Police investigations revealed that these weapons were to be used at an opportune time to carry out killings of those accused for sacrilege/desecration and leaders/members of socio-religious organisations in Punjab.

Further investigations are in progress to unravel the entire conspiracy and network of operatives based in India and abroad.

Punjab Police bust terror module under 'Khalistan Zindabad' banner

Five Al-Qaeda and Taliban terrorists, who were plotting to target security agencies and important buildings, were today killed by security forces in Pakistan&#39;s Punjab province.

According to the Counter Terrorism Department of Punjab Police, security forces received information that around eight terrorists were hiding in a house at Gunjah in Gujrat district, some 150 kilometre&nbsp;from Lahore, and were planning to commit major terror strikes in Gujrat and Kharian.

&quot;A CTD team along with police raided the hideout of the terrorists in the wee hours today and challenged them to surrender but were fired upon. The raiding team returned fire and killed five terrorists. Three managed to escape taking advantage of darkness,&quot; a CTD spokesman said

Eight people were dead and 30 wounded when there was a blast at Defence Housing Authority Z-Block on Saturday.

But Punjab Police clarified that it was not perpetrated by any terror group, adding&nbsp;&ldquo;the individuals found guilty of negligence for the DHA accident will be held accountable&quot;, Pakistan Today reported.

Pakistan: Lahore blast an accident, not 'an act of terrorism'

Eight al-Qaeda and Taliban terrorists, who were plotting to target atomic installations and offices of intelligence agencies, were killed by Pakistani security forces in the country&#39;s relatively peaceful Punjab province, officials said today.

Punjab police&#39;s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) said their officials were working on the&nbsp;intelligence input that the terrorists&nbsp;were planning to attack a Shia procession near Multan district, about 350 kilometres from Lahore.

CTD officials and other security agencies conducted combing operations in Shujaabad area of the district.

&nbsp;

During these operations, the CTD team learnt that the terrorists&nbsp;belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and al-Qaeda had moved to Dera Ghazi Khan.

&quot;Yesterday, when a CTD team raided the suspects&#39; hideout in Dera Ghazi Khan the terrorists opened fire and hurled hand-grenades. The CTD team retaliated in self-defence. When the firing stopped, eight terrorists were found dead,&quot; it said.
