Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday administered the municipal corporations to execute a ban on burning garbage in urban areas.&nbsp;

With current pollution levels increasing in the national capital, Adityanath has also ordered to develop &#39;artificial rain&#39; with the help of latest technology in Lucknow, taking Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur on board to carry out the procedure, according to reports.&nbsp;

He has also directed to install several water sprinklers on roads and execute a ban on burning crop residue, reports said.&nbsp;

The UP CM has decided to organize campaigns to create awareness on pollution and preventive steps in rural areas through FM and community radio which will run until 15th January.&nbsp;

Other measures included: suspension of work in about 123 industrial units, cancelled registration of vehicles which are over 10 years old and also fines of over 200 vehicles for violating pollution norms - which were earlier directed by&nbsp;NGT, according to reports.&nbsp;

The practice of burning of crop residue by farmers of the two states of Punjab and Haryana has been blamed for the toxic smog enveloping the region every winter.
