Earlier in the day, Odisha and adjoining regions were battered by the extremely severe cyclonic storm Fani which made landfall in Puri district with a wind speed of around 245 kmph, according to India Meteorological Department.

"Centre stands with people in states facing severe cyclone," PM Modi said in a rally at Rajasthan's Hindaun city.

The storm is now likely moving towards West Bengal coast, IMD informed.

Two people have also been killed due to the cyclone while large areas in the seaside pilgrim town of Puri were submerged with water as heavy rains battered the entire coastal belt of the state.

Several trees were also uprooted and thatched structures destroyed at some places including Bhubaneswar.

Indian Navy's P-8I and Dornier have been scheduled to be launched in the afternoon for undertaking an aerial survey to assess the extent of impact and devastation post-Fani.

Meanwhile, Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee cancelled all scheduled rallies for next two days. Banerjee will stay in Kharagpur in West Bengal, near the coastal belt and monitor the situation herself.

Targeting the Congress on corruption, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday said the party committed the "Tughlaq road election scam", whose money was being used for the poll campaign of its chief Rahul Gandhi.

Addressing a poll rally in Sidhi district, Modi said that in the Congress culture, corruption was the "only protocol".

The prime minister also stressed that the law was equal for all and that even his residence should be raided by the Income Tax department if he was involved in any wrongdoing.

"The food meant for children and pregnant women under a government scheme was snatched from them...The money was syphoned off to Tughlaq Road residence of a Congress leader in Delhi," Modi said.

"That money is being used for the poll campaign," he said, attacking Gandhi.

The Income Tax Department recently conducted raids on close aides of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and Congress leader Kamal Nath.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes had said the department has also detected a trail of Rs 20 crore suspect cash allegedly being moved to the "headquarters of a major political party in Delhi" from the house of an important person who lives on Tughlaq Road, home to many VIPs.

Modi also said money disbursed by the Central government for farmers in Madhya Pradesh under its schemes was yet to reach the beneficiaries.

He accused the Kamal Nath dispensation in the state of not sharing with the Centre the list of farmers requiring the help.

Taking a jibe at the MP chief minister, Modi said perhaps Kamal Nath was "too busy" to share the list with the Centre due to his Switzerland visit and political grooming of his son.

The prime minister also expounded pro-farmer and pro-women measures his government took.

Modi said Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy had insulted soldiers with his reported remark that only those who cannot manage two square meals a day seek jobs in armed forces.

He also took potshots at "those from the opposition parties aspiring to become the next prime minister". They have already ordered their tailors for new attires, he added.

Modi asked the people from among the opposition wanting to become the PM can wipe out terrorism. When they replied chanting his name, he said it not him but their "one vote" that would combat terrorism.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday asked the Congressmen to sink to death for supporting controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik, whose TV channel has been banned by Sri Lankan government in the wake of a series of terrorist attacks in the island nation in which over 250 people were killed.

"After the terror attacks, Sri Lanka government decided to ban Zakir Naik`s TV channel. Do you know who Zakir Naik is? He is Zakir Naik in whose 'durbar' Diggi Raja (Digvijaya Singh) was once seen appreciating him. He is the same Zakir Naik, whom the Congress government had invited to address our police officers, that too on the topic of terrorism. `Doob Maro Congress Walon (Sink to death Congressmen)," Prime Minister Modi said while addressing an election rally in Madhya Pradesh.

He said, "I have heard that a Congress leader here said that hit Modi so that he dies across the border. Congress people hate Modi so much that they are dreaming to kill him. But they have forgotten that the people of the country are batting from Modi`s side."

"Now the Congress people should tell from whose side they are playing - India or Pakistan," he asked.

"The Congress stands with those who say that Jammu and Kashmir should have its own Prime Minister. People can see how the party which ruled the country for so many years is indulging in anti-national activities," he said.

Madhya Pradesh, where 29 Lok Sabha seats are at stake, has gone to one phase of seven-phased polling so far.

The state will go to polls during remaining three phases of polling, which concludes on May 19. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.

The Congress on April 5 moved the EC against Modi's speech alleging that the comments were "hateful and divisive."

In the rally in Wardha, Modi had taken a veiled jibe at Congress president Rahul Gandhi for contesting from Wayanad in Kerala, in addition to Amethi in Uttar Pradesh, saying the party was "forced to run away from a majority seat to a minority constituency," while accusing it of "defaming" the Hindu community by coining the term Hindu terror.

"Congress has done the sin of defaming our more than 5,000 years old culture. The peaceful Hindu society which considers the whole world as its family was called a terrorist. That is why they have been forced to run away from a majority seat and go to a minority seat", he had said in his speech.

Modi added, "When Sushil Kumar Shinde was a minister, he had spoken about Hindu terrorism from the land of Maharashtra. However, a few days ago, the court`s decision came which exposed the Congress conspiracy in front of the country. Congress has insulted Hindus."
