The Delhi police on Friday arrested a passport and visa agent, identified as Shoaib, allegedly involved in the espionage ring run by an expelled Pakistani official.

The Jodhpur-based agent is the third suspected spy in the alleged espionage ring.

Ravindra Yadav, Joint Commissioner of Delhi police, said Shoaib was tasked to collect information about troops&rsquo; deployment in the border areas, news agency Reuters reported.

&quot;He (Shoaib) was also tasked to collect information about army, BSF (Border Security Force) deployment and troops&#39; movement. In the process, he had developed a large network. He had good relations with Maulana Ramzan, who was arrested day before yesterday (October 26), and Subhash Jangir. We have information about a few more names. I can&#39;t give much detail because interrogation has just begun,&quot; Yadav said in New Delhi, according to Reuters.

Yadav claimed that the spy had visited Pakistan at least six times.

&quot;His mother and maternal uncle hail from Pakistan,&quot; Yadav added.

On Thursday, India expelled a Pakistani diplomat Mehmood Akhtar, who allegedly ran a spy ring that collected sensitive information about Indian security operations along its border after arresting two of his agents, Maulana Ramzan and Subhash Jangir.
