Two Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested by West Bengal’s Special Task Force (STF) in connection with the Osman Hadi killing case. The arrests mark a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation, as authorities continue efforts to bring all accused to justice.
The STF confirmed that both suspects are now in custody and are being questioned about their involvement. Law enforcement agencies are working closely to ensure swift legal proceedings and prevent further incidents.

Bangladesh witnessed a sea of people joining the funeral of the popular figure of the July 2024 uprising, Sharif Osman Hadi, in a state mourning on Saturday.

Hundreds of thousands of people joined the funeral of slain political activist and aspirant of Dhaka-8 constituency of the February 2026 election, held before the national parliament in Dhaka.

Hadi, 32, was laid to rest near the Dhaka University Central Mosque, next to the grave of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, whose writings inspired an uprising.

The Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) in Bangladesh's Chittagong has suspended its operation on Sunday (Dec 21), citing security concerns amid ongoing unrest in the country after student leader Osman Hadi's death. The IVAC announced on its website, saying that, due to the recent security situation at the Assistant High Commission of India (AHCI) in Chittagong, the visa operations will remain suspended until further notice.
