Our partnership with India is not just about technology transfer; it is about supporting India's leadership, along with other countries, in this global energy transition.” Speaking at the Indo-German Partnership for Green and Sustainable Development (GSDP) conversation series, the diplomat pointed out, “By sharing our expertise, fostering regulatory frameworks, and building local capacities, we aim to catalyze a rapid shift towards sustainable energy, leveraging our combined strengths for a cleaner, more resilient future." In New Delhi's growing green energy ambition, Berlin is keen to be an important and helpful partner. Dr Ajay Mathur, director general of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), who was present at the occasion said, “the partnership between India and Germany is a powerful example of how global cooperation can drive the clean energy agenda forward. India’s leadership, in collaboration with Germany, can significantly accelerate the deployment of renewable technologies like solar”. Meanwhile, Dinesh Dayanand Jagdale from India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy spoke about the country's journey in this segment and the future course of action. It provides a framework for cooperation between the two countries in alignment with the 2030 Agenda, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the goals of the Paris Agreement. As part of this is the GSDP Conversation Series which aims at the development of this partnership through regular networking and idea sharing. It was signed on the occasion of the 6th Indo-German Cabinet Consultations held in Berlin in May 2022. In October 2024, the 7th Indo-German Cabinet Consultations will be held in New Delhi. Interestingly, Germany will be participating in RE-INVEST 2024 as a partner country. RE-INVEST is India’s premier platform for showcasing its renewable energy potential to the world.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi received Scholz on Saturday for a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan.&nbsp;

Scholz held comprehensive talks with PM Modi and discussed issues of mutual interest. The focus of talks was also on ways to boost bilateral ties in areas of clean energy, trade and new technologies.&nbsp;

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said that Scholz's visit is an opportunity to further deepen the multifaceted India-Germany strategic partnership.&nbsp;

They were originally woven for the Khasi and Jaintia royalty. The stoles are considered a symbol of their power and status.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, the shawls are known for their vibrant colours, intricate designs, and the use of traditional weaving techniques.&nbsp;

They are woven for centuries by the tribes in Nagaland and have been passed down from generation to generation.&nbsp;

India has been insisting&nbsp;for resolving the Ukraine crisis through dialogue and diplomacy from the start&nbsp;and is ready to contribute to any peace process, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday (February 25) at a joint press briefing in New Delhi with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who began his two-day visit to the country earlier in the day.

"Since the beginning of the developments in Ukraine, India has laid emphasis on resolving this dispute through dialogue and diplomacy. India is ready to contribute to any peace process,"&nbsp; Modi said while addressing the briefing.

Deepening of trade and defence ties remains in focus as Scholz visits India for the first time after assuming charge as the European nation's leader in December 2021. His arrival, a day after the first anniversary of the Ukraine war, signals Delhi's growing importance to Western powers, seeking backing for their opposition to Russia's invasion.

In his remarks, Modi also laid emphasis on action against terrorism and climate crisis.&nbsp;"There is active cooperation between India and Germany in the fight against terrorism and separatism. Both countries also agree that concrete action is necessary to end cross-border terrorism,"&nbsp;he added.&nbsp; 
 
"Apart from being our largest trading partner in Europe, Germany is also an important source of investment in India. In the last few years. India and Germany are working together on green and sustainable partnerships, climate action and sustainable development goals, green hydrogen and biofuel," Modi underlined, stressing that "the strong ties are based on shared democratic values ​​and deep understanding of each other's interests."

We want to recruit, and attract that talent in Germany," Scholz said on Saturday. About 1,800 German companies are active in India and have given thousands of job, he further underlined.&nbsp;

New Delhi has a long history of defence ties with Moscow, and it has also resisted the pressure to stop fuel import from Russia amid widening rifts between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Western leaders. While India has abstained from voting against Russia at the United Nations, it has been insisting on peaceful resolution of differences ever since the Ukraine war started on February 24, 2022.&nbsp; The conflict, one of the worst in Europe in decades, has led to surge in food and fuel prices worldwide.

New Delhi is aiming to curb China's growing influence in the Indian Ocean and, hence, the replacement of India's ageing submarine fleet becomes important. India's 11 of 16 conventional submarines are more than two decades old. The Indian Navy also has two indigenous nuclear-powered submarines.
