The Delhi Medical Council has sent a notice to nine doctors and two nurses of Max Hospital, Shalimar Bagh for their alleged medical negligence in declaring a premature twin as dead.

The council issued the notice to the hospital staff on December 20 and has sought a response from them within 15 days.&nbsp;

&quot;The notice has been sent to nine doctors and two nurses through the medical superintendent of the hospital,&quot; a senior official of the Council said.

The council&nbsp;before this had asked for a response from the hospital to which the hospital responded in a week&#39;s time.&nbsp;

The council this time has sought for an individual response from the doctors.&nbsp;

The council has said that the hospital staff can submit their statement of defence substantiated by other documents.&nbsp;The staff has also been also asked to submit a copy of their qualification and Delhi Nursing Council registration details.&nbsp;

&quot;You may submit your statement of defence together with any other documents in support of your defence, within 15 days from the date of this notice to this office. You are directed to submit a copy of your qualification and Delhi Nursing Council registration details,&quot; it said.

The Council said that if the staff fails to submit their details relating to their defence within the specified time, the council will be free to initiate appropriate action.

&quot;Take notice that in default of your failure to submit your statement of defence within the stipulated time, it shall be presumed that you have nothing to say in the matter and the Delhi Medical Council shall be free to initiate appropriate action,&quot; the notice said.

On November 30, the hospital had wrongly declared a premature twin as dead.&nbsp;

Both the babies were declared stillborn by the hospital and handed over to the family allegedly in a polythene bag.

The family discovered that the boy was still alive, while they were on way to do the&nbsp;final rites.

The baby died during treatment at a nursing home in Pitampura a week later.

A panel formed by the Delhi government to look into the case had found Max hospital guilty of not following prescribed medical norms in dealing with newborn infants.&nbsp;
