<p>Citing intelligence agencies, a report by the news agency AFP&nbsp;said that a group called Andariel was compromising organisations around the world to steal sensitive and classified technical information and intellectual property data.</p>

<p>The UK National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC)&nbsp;said that Andariel&nbsp;has been identified as an arm of Pyongyang's spy agency, and working to further the regime's military and nuclear ambitions.</p>

<h2><strong>Andariel's targets</strong></h2>

<p>The group has exploited vulnerabilities in software to launch cyberattacks, including malware and phishing to gain access to sensitive data and information. AFP reported that defence, aerospace,&nbsp;nuclear, and engineering organisations have mainly been targeted. But the group has also targeted&nbsp;medical and energy providers.</p>

<p>NCSC Director of Operations Paul Chichester said on Thursday that the&nbsp;global cyber espionage operation that was exposed showed the lengths that North Korea-sponsored&nbsp;actors were willing to go to pursue their military and nuclear programmes.</p>

<p>"It should remind critical infrastructure operators of the importance of protecting the sensitive information and intellectual property they hold on their systems to prevent theft and misuse," Paul Chichester.</p>

<h2><strong>A note of caution by US</strong></h2>

<p>The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), meanwhile, said that&nbsp;Andariel remained an ongoing threat to various industry sectors around the world.</p>
