Nepal recently published a map showing Indian territories of Lipulekh, Kalapani, Limpiyadhura as its own. India's ministry of external affairs had said that the &nbsp;"artificial enlargement of claims is not based on historical fact or evidence and is not tenable."

"If any misconception has risen among people of Nepal due to construction of road from Lipulekh to Dharchula, then we'll find a solution by sitting together and having a dialogue," India's defence minister said.

"Indo-Nepal ties are not ordinary, we are bound together by "roti-beti"&nbsp;and no power in the world can break it," Rajnath Singh asserted.

Nepal has reportedly been claiming its right on Indian territories on the basis of Kuthi Yankti and Lipugadh streams which flow into river Kali.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;

India and Nepal boundary issue was first discussed at Joint Working Group level in 1997 and 1998 and in 2014 foreign secretaries of both countries were mandated to work on the issues of Kalapani and Narsahi-Sustaand.&nbsp;

On June 9, the Nepal Parliament had unanimously endorsed a proposal to consider the Constitution amendment bill for endorsing the new political map.

"We have noted that the House of Representatives of Nepal has passed a constitution amendment bill for changing the map of Nepal to include parts of Indian territory. We have already made our position clear on this matter," India's foreign ministry had said earlier, adding, "This artificial enlargement of claims is not based on historical fact or evidence and is not tenable. The government had registered the bill at the Parliament on May 22, seeking to amend Schedule 3 of the constitution to update Nepal`s political map in the national emblem.

As the constitution amendment requires a two-thirds majority, the ruling Nepal Communist Party, which holds a two-thirds majority in upper House, fell short of dominance in the lower House compelling it to seek support from other parties.

The main opposition Nepali Congress party sought time for discussion on the issue and the KP Sharma Oli government deferred on May 27 its plan to move the constitutional amendment.

On May 30, the Nepali Congress which has 63 seats, decided to support the amendment proposal which would allow Nepal Communist Party with its 174 seats to muster the required two-thirds majority.

Nepal’s diplomatic aggression appears to be backfiring.

The country's Prime Minister KP&nbsp;Sharma Oli&nbsp;had triggered quite a stir last week after his government issued maps that included&nbsp;three Indian territories, Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura as its part.

However, the constitutional amendment put forth in the country's parliament to make&nbsp;the new maps official, has been&nbsp;reportedly put on hold after its&nbsp;Prime Minister KP&nbsp;Sharma Oli failed to build consensus.

Even,&nbsp;the main opposition party did not endorsed Oli’s plans. In fact, several politicians in Nepal see this as political opportunism.&nbsp;

They believe that&nbsp;the new maps were&nbsp;an effort to invoke Gorkha nationalism for personal gains.&nbsp;
