While Akshay had no dates free for the film, Katrina felt she wouldn’t suit the character and would not be able to justify it. He said, "Katrina could not have been an Indian desi girl. We both did speak about it. And she said this role is something that people may not accept her in. I was going to do the film with Akshay but his dates were blocked for two years so he recommended I go to another actor."<br />

Vipul then took Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra on board. He said, "I met Arjun and I told him I was going to do this with Akshay but he doesn't have dates. He heard the script and agreed to do it and that's how he came into the picture. I wanted someone desi who can also look modern and who has got a certain honesty in his face.&nbsp;<br />

"He was the most suited boy for the part. Parineeti was already part of it when I was going to do it with Akshay," he added.&nbsp;<br />

Talking about the obvious comparisons that will crop up once the film releases, he said, "I am sure eight out of ten people will say 'Namastey London' was better, this is bad, because it's human nature, whatever is old is gold. They must've have seen 'Namastey London' so many times, have been listening to its music all these years.&nbsp;<br />

"And that's because you are already emotionally connected to the first one so you treat this as a lesser cousin of the original one."<br />

He added, "People tell us to make sequels of 'Singh is Kinng', 'Holiday' and other films. There is a demand for it. There's no dearth of fresh ideas. Even in sequels, the story is new, just the world is similar."<br />

<p>As per reports published in a leading tabloid, Parineeti is set to record her first single -- that will be composed by none other than the multi-talented Armaan Malik. The two were spotted jamming together a few days back leading to speculation about them collaborating for a song.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the report, "During their first meeting, they also discussed the scale and composition of the track. They will record the final track once Parineeti returns from Australia and the video will be shot after she wraps up the shooting of Vipul Shah’s romcom, Namastey England."&nbsp;</p>

<p>The song in question is tentatively titled <em>Mujhe</em><em> Tum</em>. The report adds on the song: "It is not a recreated version of an old song and has a flavour similar to her debut song, “Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nahin”, but the notes are very different. The production is being supervised by Bhushan Kumar and the makers are currently scouting for a video director."<br />

The two just wrapped shooting for film 'Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar' before starting with 'Namastey England'

For those wondering what Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra are up to -- the two recently wrapped shooting for film Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar and are today on Thursday spotted seeking blessings at Golden Temple before commencing Amritsar schedule for their next. So I just wrapped my 10th film with my first ever co star @parineetichopra !!! Before kickstarting the shooting, Arjun along with Parineeti and Vipul were seen in a spiritual spirit. Interestingly, the lead pair is set to play Punjabi characters in the film. It was an impromptu plan by him. He just woke up and said that he would like to pray at the Temple before he starts shooting the film. He spent about 30 mins praying alone and then went straight to the shoot and reached before time for shoot! Parineeti and Vipul were also with him at the Golden Temple. Namastey England is reportedly going to be shot at more than 75 locations across the globe while the shooting schedule will start from Amritsar followed by Ludhiana and Patiala.
