Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari responded to his wife&#39;s criticism of his leadership by saying &#39;she belongs to my kitchen&#39; during his visit to Berlin.

In an interview with the BBC on Friday, Aisha Buhari indicated that she may not back her husband&#39;s bid in the next election. She suggested that the government had been hijacked by a &quot;few people&quot; and her husband does not know &#39;45 out of 50 people&#39;&nbsp;holding top posts in the country.

Aisha, whose grandfather was Nigeria&#39;s first defence minister, said that she did not know if Buhari would contest in the 2019 elections but &quot;if things continue like this... I will not go out and campaign again and ask any woman to vote like I did before. I will never do it again&quot;.&nbsp;The first lady was at the fore of Buhari&#39;s election campaign last year.

&quot;It is not easy to satisfy the whole Nigerian opposition parties to participate in the government,&quot; he told journalists, addressing the press following talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, AFP reported.

He also said he had more political experience than her, &quot;so I claim superior knowledge over her and the rest of the opposition because,&nbsp;in the end, I have succeeded&quot; in winning Nigeria&#39;s presidency.

After Buhari&#39;s statement, people took to social media wondering what Buhari meant by the &#39;other room&#39;. Some mocked his statement while other condemned the President&#39;s thoughts on a woman&#39;s role in society.

&ldquo;On the 23rd September 2016, our strike team at 20:40 PM hours time has brought down oil productions activities at the Bonny 48 inches crude oil Export Line.&nbsp;This action is a signature to the over dramatisation of the so-called dialogue and negotiation process on the side of President Muhammadu Buhari and his government,&rdquo; the group wrote on its website.&nbsp;

An NDA spokesman said that while they were still in favour of the dialogue, they were frustrated with no progress being made on the deal and also with the authorities&#39; acts of intimidation and blackmail. He also called the Friday&#39;s destruction of the pipeline as a &ldquo;wake-up call&rdquo;. 
 
The attack comes almost a month after the group, which seeks a fairer distribution of the oil revenue that make up for 70 per cent of the state&#39;s income, had brokered a ceasefire with the government and had announced that it would lay down its weapons, according to AFP news agency.&nbsp; 
 
The Nigerian Army had launched &ldquo;Operation Crocodile Smile&rdquo; to clamp down on the militant groups and reinstate their control in the oil hub of Warri. It is also battling large-scale illegal refinery operations and kidnappings, according to reports.&nbsp; 
 
Meanwhile, the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), which operates the pipeline, said the damage was being investigated.&nbsp;

Nigerian oil production has come down to 1.7 million barrels a day in the first quarter from 2.1 million barrels.&nbsp; 
 
Nigeria&#39;s dwindling oil production and a restrictive foreign exchange policy was adversely affecting the country&#39;s prospects, Ratings agency Standard and Poor said.&nbsp;

Islamic State has named a new leader of Boko Haram, the Nigerian militant group which last year swore allegiance to it. 
 
Abu Musab al-Barnawi was named the Islamic State&#39;s governor for West Africa in a two-page interview in its weekly magazine, al-Naba, which was circulated late on Tuesday. Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, a former military ruler who took office last year, has made it a priority to defeat Boko Haram, which has tried to create a state adhering to strict sharia law in the northeast during a seven-year insurgency. 
 
Boko Haram controlled a swathe of land in northeast Nigeria around the size of Belgium at the end of 2014 but was pushed out by Nigerian troops, aided by soldiers from neighbouring countries, early last year. In the interview, al-Barnawi said Boko Haram was &quot;still a force to be reckoned with&quot; and that it had been receiving new recruits. 
 
Despite having been pushed out of most of the territory it controlled, Boko Haram has carried out suicide bombings in northeast Nigeria and neighbouring Cameroon, Niger and Chad, focusing on busy public areas such as markets and mosques. 
 
Fulan Nasrullah, a security analyst, said al-Barnawi had been a senior figure within Boko Haram who was previously the group&#39;s military commander. The Islamic State publication did not mention Abubakar Shekau, who was the group&#39;s leader and represented the Nigerian jihadists in videos during an insurgency that has killed about 15,000 people and displaced more than two million. 
 
Shekau, whose death has been reported on numerous occasions by the army only for him to reappear in videos, was last seen in a video circulated in March in which he seemed to suggest he was ailing and Boko Haram was losing its effectiveness. A video emerged the following week saying there would be no surrender. In June, a senior US general said Boko Haram had fractured internally, with a big group splitting away from Shekau over his failure to adhere to guidance from Islamic State. 
 
The Nigerian group swore allegiance to Islamic State, based in Syria and Iraq, in March 2015. That assessment came days after US officials said they had seen no evidence that Boko Haram had so far received significant operational support or financing from Islamic State militants, concluding the loyalty pledge had so far mostly been a branding exercise.
