<p>A visit of the royals to a flood-hit town in Spain, which was aimed at connecting with the people and understanding their problems, took an abrupt turn after King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia faced mud-pelting by an angry crowd on Sunday (Nov. 3).</p>

<p>The king and queen were hit by mud in their faces, and their clothes were also spoilt as the royal couple tried speaking to angry locals who kept on calling them "murderers" and using other insulting words in the badly affected town of Paiporta, Valencia.</p>

<p>The ire of the crowd was mostly directed towards Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and Valencia region's head, Carlos Mazon. Some of those in the crowd were also heard shouting, "Mazon resign! How many deaths?! Out!"&nbsp;</p>

<p>The town of Paiporta is one of the most affected regions by the floods, in which more than 200 people have been killed. The royal couple was accompanied by Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and other officials.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The hopes of finding any survivors declined as one of the worst floods in the history of the country wrecked infrastructure and towns.</p>

<p>Most of the deaths were reported from the Valencia region as thousands of security and emergency services frantically worked to remove mud and debris in search of the bodies.</p>

<p>Describing "the worst natural disaster in the recent history of our country," Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said that it was Europe's second deadliest flood in this century.</p>
