<p>El Paso County Assistant District Attorney Kyle Lasley had argued that the court of Morales oversaw misdemeanour cases and that he had the jurisdiction.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Public Defender Kelli Childress said that the “processes were ignored” when the cases were being transferred, and Morales supported her stating that his “hands are tied” without the order transfer.</p>

<p>Hicks said that the migrants, who broke the razor-wire fences and knocked over National Guard troops and also stomped one of the guards' knee in the melee, will be handed over to federal custody with Customs and Border Protection.</p>

<p>“Border Patrol will then process them. So some may qualify for asylum, some may not. Some may be deported, some may not,” said Hicks.</p>
