According to the national coroner's authority, the toxic alcohol has killed 728 people from February 20 to April 7 out of which 525 deaths were due to Methanol. It has poisoned more than 5,000.&nbsp;

The Iranian government had asked the methanol manufacturers to add artificial colour so that people could differentiate it from Ethanol because the substance is odourless and colourless. Methanol can cause delayed organ and brain damage with symptoms like chest pain, nausea, hyperventilation, blindness and even coma.&nbsp;

Iranian health ministry released a statement saying that more than 90 people have lost their eyesight or damaged eyes due to the toxic substance.&nbsp;
