Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti today drew a contrast between a developing India and her state which was facing bloodshed from cross-border shelling and terrorism.

The Jammu and Kashmir chief minister, who was addressing the passing out parade of new police constables in the state&#39;s Baramulla district, said that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about the country being on the path of development, her state was facing a &quot;Holi of blood&quot; on the border. She stressed on the need to build &quot;bridges of friendship&quot; in the state.

Hamare border pe iss waqt, khuda na khasta, ek tarah se khoon ki Holi chal rahi hai (At the moment on our border, god forbid, there is a Holi of blood being played). The country is on the path of development, it is what the PM talks about, but opposite is happening in our state. I appeal to the PM and to Pakistan, Jammu and Kashmir ko jung ka akhada mat banaiye, dosti ka pul banaiye (Don&#39;t make Jammu and Kashmir a battlefield, build bridges of friendship),&quot; the Jammu and Kashmir chief minister said.

The chief minister also said that the state&#39;s police faced the biggest challenges because they had to face their people while maintaining law and order in the state.

&quot;The Jammu and Kashmir Police has the toughest work because you have the biggest challenges in front of you. You will have to face your people while maintaining law and order and you have to keep patience while dealing with it,&quot; Mehbooba Mufti said.
