Chaudhry, who was addressing a consultative conference on terrorism in Islamabad, said that the students of "ordinary schools and colleges" had been involved in incidents of extremism in Pakistan and not of madrasas. &nbsp;

Chaudhry added, "You closed their (school and college students') minds. If you cultivate a society where an opposing view is immediately declared kufr (heresy) ... how can you present an opposing view?" &nbsp;

"And if no opposing views are tolerated, how will you bring a soft change (in society)?" the minister asked.

Scholars in Pakistan are afraid of speaking up. The society itself has to rectify the narrative of extremism, claimed the minister. &nbsp;

"We don't have any potential threat from India. We have the sixth largest army in the world, we are an atomic power, and India cannot compete with us. We face no danger from America. We face no danger from Europe. The biggest danger we face [today] is from within [Pakistan]," added Chaudhry. &nbsp;

Banned terror outfit <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/jamaat-ul-mujahideen-bangladesh-planning-to-set-up-permanent-bases-in-eastern-states-mha-221625">Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh</a> is using some Madrasas in Burdwan and Murshidabad district of West Bengal for radicalisation and recruitment activities, Union Home Ministry said on Tuesday.

The ministry also expressed concern to the West Bengal government over the recent political violence in the state.

"There are some inputs of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh using some Madrasas in Burdwan and Murshidabad for radicalisation and recruitment activities," Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy said in a written reply in Lok Sabha.

He said relevant inputs in this regard are regularly shared with the state governments and agencies concerned with the advice to take appropriate action.

"The government has notified Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh or Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen India or Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Hindustan and all its manifestations as a Terrorist Organisation on May 23 this year in terms of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967," he said.

The Minister said that information has been received about a number of incidents of violence before, during and after the General Election-2019 resulting in deaths and injuries to several people including political workers in West Bengal.

"Concern on the issue was shared by the government with the state government and an advisory was issued on June 9, 2019, asking the state government to maintain law and order, peace and public tranquillity in the state," he said.&nbsp;

In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, UP Shia Central Waqf Board Chairman Waseem Rizvi has demanded to shut down of primary-level madrasas across the country in order to check terror group ISIS’ influence on Muslim children.&nbsp;

Rizvi, who has supported the demand for Ram temple in Ayodhya and uniform civil code, said Muslim children if they want, can take admission in madrasas after completing high school.

“It can be seen that children are soft targets for running any mission and at this point of time ISIS is a dangerous terror organisation which is gradually getting hold over the Muslim population across the world.

“…if madrasas are not shut down, about half of the country’s population will become supporters of the ISIS ideology in 15 years’ time,” Rizvi said in the letter.

Stressing that the support to the ISIS is clearly visible in Kashmir, where through the monetary support to the children attending madrasas, they are being alienated from people of other religion in the name of Islamic education, he said.

“In the rural areas of the country also, the primary madrasas in the name of donations are harming the future of our children and promoting fundamentalist thinking…this is damaging both the country and the Muslim children,” he said.

Taking admission in madrasas after schooling will not only help them take normal education till the high school level along with children of different sections of society and religion but also will deter them from getting easily influenced by fundamentalist thinking.

He has previously supported the building of a Ram temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya and a mosque ‘Masjid-e-Aman’ in Lucknow.

Islamic organisation Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind has issued a legal notice to Shia Central Waqf Board chairman Wasim Rizvi for his <a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/some-madrasas-have-produced-terrorists-wasim-rizvi-29035" target="_blank">remarks on madrasas</a>.

Wasim Rizvi on Tuesday said that madrasas should be affiliated to the CBSE and the ICSE citing that the educational institution has produced terrorists.&nbsp;

He had also written to Prime Minister Modi and chief minister Yogi Adityanath suggesting that madrasas should be affiliated to CBSE, ICSE. He also said that religious education should be made optional for non-muslims students.&nbsp;

The notice accuses Rizvi of &quot;insinuating&quot; that madrasa education system has not helped in improving the condition of young Muslims but it has instigated radicalism in them.&nbsp;
