Apple Inc. has been planning to bring the made-in-India iPhone 15 to the Indian market as well as some other regions on the debut day of the global sales, said officials.&nbsp;

Although the major number of iPhone 15s will be manufactured in China, it would be the first time that an India-assembled device's latest generation will be available on the first day of sale, they stated, Bloomberg reported.&nbsp;

This will also underscore the increasing production prowess of India, and reflect a significant change in the previous strategy of Apple of selling Chinese-made new devices, which are sold to customers across the world.&nbsp;

The new iPhone 15 is likely to go on sale in the weeks or days after its unveiling, which is scheduled for 10 am California time on Tuesday (September 12).&nbsp;

California-based Apple, whose corporate headquarters is in Cupertino, started the production of iPhone 15 at the factory of supplier Foxconn Technology Group in India's southern state of Tamil Nadu last month. The move was seen as another effort by the US tech giant to decrease the gap between its main manufacturing bases in China and its India operations.&nbsp;

The shipment of 360,000 Made-in-India COVID-19 vaccines that arrived in Yemen, as part of the first batch of 1.9 million doses it will receive throughout the year, is a "game-changer" and a "milestone" in the fight against the pandemic in the country, health officials have said.

Yemen Wednesday received 360,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses shipped via the COVAX Facility, a partnership between the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF said in a statement.

The AstraZeneca vaccines are licensed and manufactured by the Serum Institute of India and will enable health workers and other priority populations vulnerable to COVID-19 to be protected against the virus, it said.

The 360,000 doses arrived with 13,000 safety boxes and 1,300,000 syringes that are critical for the safe and effective roll-out of the vaccination campaign.

This first batch is part of 1.9 million doses that Yemen will initially receive throughout 2021.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had tweeted: "Arrival in Aden. Made in India vaccines land in Yemen," with the hashtag 'VaccineMaitri'.

UNICEF Representative Philippe Duamelle and WHO Representative Dr Adham Ismail took delivery of the vaccines in Aden, together with the Minister of Health and Population Dr Qasim Buhaibeh, and the Deputy Minister of Public Health and Population Dr Ali Alwaleedi.

"The arrival of the COVID-19 vaccine doses is a critical moment for Yemen," Duamelle said.

"As COVID-19 continues to claim lives around the world, Yemen now has the capacity to protect those most at risk, including health workers, so that they can safely continue to provide life-saving interventions for children and families. Vaccines work, vaccines save lives, now let's start getting people vaccinated," he added.

Ismail said the shipment represents an important step in the fight against COVID-19 in Yemen.

"It will help save lives, including those at highest risk of serious disease, and will help protect the health system.

"These safe and effective vaccines will be a game-changer, but for the foreseeable future we must continue wearing masks, physically distance and avoid crowds," he said.

Rehan Hafiz, Senior Country Manager Yemen, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance expressed delight that Sana'a has received its first COVAX vaccine doses.

"We look forward to the launch of the vaccination campaign. Thanks to the work of the Government of Yemen and of the COVAX partners, and with the support of our donors, we are now able to protect our most vulnerable populations," Hafiz said, adding that their work is only beginning, but the arrival of the first COVAX COVID-19 doses is a major milestone for Yemen.

COVAX, the vaccines pillar of the Access to COVID-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator, is co-led by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance (Gavi) and the World Health Organization (WHO) working in partnership with UNICEF as key implementing partner, as well as civil society organisations, vaccine manufacturers, the World Bank, and others.

The Viking Pro bike used by the prime mister is part of India's Hero Motors Company owned Insync brand, designed in Manchester and made in India by parent company Hero Cycles.

Hero Cycles took over the brands Viking, Riddick and Ryedale and redesigned the range under the brand name Insync.

The company said its Insync range consists of 75 bikes and is the first to be designed at Hero Cycles Global Design Centre (HGD) in Manchester.

"Insync is delighted that the Prime Minister rode one of our Viking bikes after announcing what will be a landmark moment for cycling in the UK," said Pankaj M. Munjal, chairman and managing director of Hero Motors Company, which includes Hero Cycles, Insync, the Viking and Lectro brands.

"We strongly back all the measures announced in the strategy, a move we hope will see many more thousands of people taking to the roads on two wheels. Providing safer cycle routes, funding towards e-bikes and a bike repairs scheme will encourage even more riders to return to cycling or take it up for the first time, building on the stand-out success the industry has seen during the pandemic," he said.

Johnson's new cycling plan is designed as a "comprehensive, long-term vision" to increase active travel, including cycle training for every child and adult who wants it, accessible through schools, local authorities or direct from cycle training schemes.

It comes alongside a new "Better Health" campaign, led by Public Health England (PHE), which calls on people to embrace a healthier lifestyle and to lose weight to cut down the risk from the disease, including the deadly coronavirus.

To encourage cycling as part of daily commute or routine, more cycle racks are set to be installed at transport hubs, town and city centres and public buildings, and funding will go towards new bike hangars and on street storage for people who do not have space to keep a bike at home.

The first round of government-backed "Fix Your Bike" repair vouchers worth GBP 50 each were released from Tuesday night to the public in a pilot scheme to encourage thousands to get back into cycling.

However, that scheme hit a roadblock as the website struggled to deal with the flow of demand for the vouchers. The Department for Transport said the vouchers are being released in batches "to help manage capacity".

"By helping to fix your bike - or get an electrically powered one; by increasing storage space at stations, on trains and buses; and by introducing more ways to keep pedestrians and cyclists safe, we're making it easier than ever to make active travel part of your daily life, and leading England to become a great cycling nation," said UK Transport Secretary Grant Shapps.

A new Active Travel England inspectorate will be responsible for the government's cycling budget and help ensure schemes are compliant with the new higher standards set for infrastructure.

The new standards will make clear that schemes which make pedestrians and cyclists share the same space or which do not make meaningful change to the status quo on the road will not be funded.
